  1. agree... the mods (or someone UP there) should be able to help you sort it out. BTW.... I understand not living here. Nice to see old timers drop in though
  2. Why don't you comic shop owners just have a sign or say "We buy comics with a 10 cent, 12 cent or 15 cent cover price only" and then you wouldn't have to deal with those problems. And in that vein, don't y'all think the cover price for comics is ridiculous these days ? No wonder people think their books are worth something when they started off by over paying when they were brand new
  3. Look at that stupid comic book getting in the way of all those cool sigs
  4. yea.... its full of that kind of stuff. toys, dolls, paper goods, advertising etc.
  5. Steve Geppi photo I was going through my book shelf and came across this old magazine. Its from 1991. Thought someone here might find it interesting. Nearmint used to have a thread about old photos but I couldn't find it and anyways, this isn't really an old photo. cheers
  6. this four color book is the most covers Ive seen on a book. Wonder what the record is ?
  7. I was thinking it was interesting that the book has two extra pages (the covers) and the machine that did the stapling missed making a secure staple by two pages at the centerfold
  8. What if it was an Action #1 ? 6.5 Action #1 vs remove the cover ....8.0 Action #1 ?
  9. Would you take off the front cover ? This book is up for auction in the current CLINK auction. It has 3 covers !! THREE !! The thing is, the second cover is a grade and a half higher than the first. Q. Is it better to have a 3 cover book.... or to go for the higher grade book ? What would you do ? http://www.comiclink.com/auctions/item.asp?back=%2Fauctions%2Fpreview.asp%3Fcode%3D2017apr%26session%3D2%26pg%3D4%23Item_1179521&id=1179521
  10. that cover is hilarious. what a perfect conversation piece for wall art in the house
  11. I always liked those old Marvel annuals with the year date right on the cover
  12. Bottom line is that muslims do not mix with other cultures. They seed, plant, take root and then take over. It's a world domination ideology
  13. I've seen some "hidden" stuff in comics before, like the Kazar F U C KAY cover and Barry Smiths coin message in Conan #8. Seems to me this is right out front and not hidden at all
  14. You misunderstand my intention. If a guy in the story (or on the cover) is wearing a shirt with a slogan that has enough power to .....what? offend? recruit volunteers? make readers choose a side (pro or con)? hate somebody ? then that is power indeed and if MARVEL had any cajones they would pick a side in this world and move readers to support with depictions of their heros defending AMERICA, standing up for righteousness, and yea....kicking butt on evil in the world, just like that old Cap book. They used to do it. During the war. The Nazi's, the Japs, the Chinese and others were depicted as being defeated by their slew of tight wearing good doers. There is another thread about MARVELS falling sales. Maybe they would improve if MARVEL would give readers a good long dose of their heroes actually standing up for something.
  15. This kind of struck a note with me, and to play the angels advocate I ask...... What is his work ? What is the work world ? Some place where everyone is the same ? I mean, is it some kind of white bread generic imaginary place where no one is to be reminded of differences or the real world outside ? Why is that? I mean, there ARE muslims in the world, and one of them might wear a t-shirt that says something like that. People wear shirts that say all kinds of stuff. Is the object of comic books to make sure to tell an imaginary story that no one on earth could possibly be offended by....over and over and over again. uh oh...... we offended all the hillbillys with this cover. Why don't publishers take the position that SOME hillbillys can be bad guys and the ones on the cover of this Cap book are a few of them ?
