AJD got a reaction from FoggyNelson in Shock SuspenStories 08
Yeah, there's no doubt that some of the publishers were really pushing the limits. I'm not at all surprised that they got into trouble.

AJD got a reaction from FoggyNelson in Two Fisted Tales 05
Yep. Most 1940s and 50s Australian comics were printed without specialised cover stock. The paper stock on this one is particularly poor. The same printer did the Australian issues of Piracy, and I'm yet to see one of those that hasn't aged badly.

AJD reacted to Get Marwood & I in G376 (1966)
I like that the portrait on the wall appears to be reacting to the unfolding scene

AJD got a reaction from FoggyNelson in Archie 14 Australian edition
No idea. This is the only one I've ever seen and none of the Australian comic archive sites had it. So sales data = what I paid for this one. I have been offered (and declined) a lot more than that for it though...

AJD got a reaction from FoggyNelson in Extra 2
Yes it does. The Extra! covers were quite good - in fact probably the best thing about a mostly lackluster comic.

Highest on the census is 9.2 with only a handful of high grade. But the overall numbers aren't very different for issues around that number.

Yes, one of my favourites. It goes very nicely with the Looney Tunes #10 cover that came out the same month. There were MANY flag covers dated July 1942.

AJD got a reaction from FoggyNelson in G279 (1963)
The US edition had a photo cover. This cover is adapted from an interior panel, so the whole comic is drawn in that style.

AJD got a reaction from FoggyNelson in Wings 01
I think there's trouble all round on that cover. The P-80 isn't going to pull out from there... (one of my pet gripes about a lot of air combat covers - a crash is inevitable as drawn).

AJD got a reaction from 1950's war comics in Uncle Scrooge 33.jpg
I don't think they'd be bothered with coins very often!

AJD reacted to 1950's war comics in Samson and Delilah (Fox, 1950)
one of my favorite stories in the Bible !

AJD got a reaction from 1950's war comics in Samson and Delilah (Fox, 1950)
It caught my eye when one sold for a really solid price at Heritage earlier this year. Then this one popped up at a very reasonable price... no brainer.

AJD got a reaction from 1950's war comics in WDC&S_205
Hey, @FoggyNelson - check out the thread I started in gold about basketball covers. Turns out there are a couple of dozen earlier ones.

Can that be right? Basketball is a popular game and I'd expect that to be reflected on comics. But now you mention it... I can think of baseball and football GA covers but...

AJD got a reaction from FoggyNelson in Wings 099
Good question. Actually it happens more on the covers than in the interior stories. I'll post some examples in my journal thread.

Not entirely sure what the US planes are meant to be, though they have a bit of the B-52 about them. The bad guys are the usual Fiction House "mystery Soviet fighter" - I wrote about this in my 'comic notebook' thread.
