  1. Wipple, thanks so much for mentioning the increase to 25K. Without knowing about this change, I just had a renewal effective for 10/01, where I scheduled a bunch of new books @ 5K. They require that you have enough coverage for all your scheduled items. Thus my scheduling of these books resulted in an increase in coverage and premiums. I called and checked and you are correct, however, I was not notified. Anyway, bottom line, I can now decrease my coverage and get some money back ! Thanks again !!!!
  2. C.I.S. seems to be the consensus choice here. I've had them for years but never made a claim. I'm really not aware of a good alternative. Any kind of Homeowners Policy needs a comprehensive scheduling of every book. C.I.S. only requires scheduling for any books over 5K .
  3. Great looking book, excellent eye appeal on this one. Other than that bottom right corner crease it looks awesome. Let us know what the BC looks like when you get it because it looks 8.0 to me. BTW, you never see this book book anywhere. It could be the first time I have seen this cover. Love it . Congrats !
  4. In hindsight, I guess I should not have responded to the OP at all. Sometimes, you don't stop and think, should I post this, will someone get offended, etc....you just post. I am sorry to hear you think my posts can sometimes be dismissive. I think I most often take that tone if I believe the posts have a financial agenda. I think, in the back of my mind, I thought that case here, in this thread. CGC obviously compensated the OP immediately so it's all good. I will honestly try to keep your comments in mind when I post in the future. Later..................
  5. No, this is not a standard CGC experience.
  6. You seem to be upset over the fact that all of us did not rally behind him. He told his story, and I thought it was not a big deal and said so. Does that make me an 'elitist' ? Are Board members not allowed to disagree with each other ? You can browse through my Posts and you will see I frequent the Newbie thread, offering advice when I can help. In this specific case, what help was he seeking ? He keeps repeating his intent was to ask if this was standard CGC policy. His CC didn't go through, of course this is not standard CGC policy. Again, you can look at my historical posts and you will see I am not afraid to speak out against CGC on real issues. CGC is not perfect, maybe the back office dropped the ball here but again, IMO, no big deal. Sorry.
  7. To be honest, I rarely let a problem go without complaining. The only difference here is I do my complaining directly to the company. I don't go on the internet to give bad reviews. Your original post was something like 34 sentences, that's a lot of complaining for a CC that didn't go through.
  8. So you are advocating that customers should go public with every little problem ? Sorry, but I think that's a bit much. I concur that customers should beat on CGC for stuff like the Newton Rings or damaged slabs but in this situation his Credit Card didn't go through. Not in the same ballpark.
  9. That's strange, Per the example pic below, the date listed has always been visible to me.
  10. BTW, you mentioned you E-Mailed Clink. Trust me, you don't want to E-Mail them, call them.
  11. If time is of the essence, I would not bother trying to count the books. Quickly look through them and keep track of anything with value. Make an offer on that alone.
  12. Wait a minute, I just realized you said the book is on the exchange, not in auction. When was the book listed, it should state it on the listing ? I bet this book is no longer available for sale. Clink is cluttered with old listings no longer available because the seller does not close it out.
  13. While I believe the scenario you describe is probably what happened, I'm still not sure when CGC issues a new cert number on a reholder. I had this exact situation a couple months ago. Book is on CLink in an old holder. CLink mailed it in for reholder, brand new style case. However, and I just checked, the cert number remained the same. Puzzling ?
  14. No, you are not understanding the situation correctly. The picture on Clink is the old holder. However, since that picture, the book was probably sent in to be reholdered. The picture of the book in the new holder is simply not on CLink. It may still be in transit from CGC. AGain, what did CLink say when you called them ? Edit: My bad, I thought the book was in auction but it is on the Exchange. See my comments, different post below. This is probably a stale listing and the book is no longer available for sale.
  15. In my experience, a reholder has always retained the same cert number. However, it's possible this has changed with the new style holder. If so, the new holder has a new cert number with the old cert number gone. A possible explanation is the case was cracked and Clink themselves sent it in for a new holder. You really need CLink to clear this up for you. You said you contacted them, what did they say ?
  16. Sorry but I had to laugh at your question as to who pays for shipping back to you, after all CGC is a business that wants to make money so of course you pay for shipping both ways. I have to suggest you look through the CGC website which should answer many of your questions, especially about pricing, which depends on a number of factors. I'm sure a fellow Canadian will reply about the Canadian specific questions.
  17. I still would like to know what exactly happened when the CC info didn't go through. If the error was on him, how can he possibly complain ? Also, I'm not so much saying he doesn't have a right to be annoyed but why go public here ? It's really not a problem the Boards need to be involved in.
  18. An excellent point. CGC can detect micro trimming but not pressing. It's a rigged game. You either play or sit on the sidelines. I really have no problem with the fact that pressing is allowed, or that they have inhouse pressing. The aspect that bothers me is how they allow these flaws incurred from pressing to result in an improved game. A picture is worth a thousand words. How is this allowed to happen ?
  19. Dude, don't go soft on this. Send it back for a refund. Do it NOW !
  20. And I bet every example graded higher. The system is rigged to support the aggressive press. Somebody explain to me why CGC ignores smeared ink and tucked staples.
  21. By DIY'ers, I mean the non professional, just buy a machine and turn it on type !
