  1. I decided to cover him by sneaking him in with a vote for Chris Claremont.
  2. Eisner’s post WW2 work is groundbreaking genius, for its time. Extremely influential.
  3. I like his earlier indie crime comics, Powers, Ultimate Spider-Man, Daredevil, but after a while I began to feel that his decompression technique was becoming a bit too synonymous with ‘blatant padding out’. Perhaps I just needed a break, as I thought his Miles Morales stories the following decade were consistently good.
  4. Al Feldstein Jonathan Hickman Chris Claremont (with or without John Byrne, who’s written some great stuff by himself, of course) Grant Morrison Mark Waid (just 5 is insufficient)
  5. I joined in 2008, a number of years after the boards started, and so, from that perspective, I’m a relatively new arrival and don’t qualify. In other words, I’m getting old and 2008 feels like yesterday.
  6. Underrated artist. Like his Superman work in particular.
  7. Brilliant comedy film. Forgot about it. Huggy Bear / Antonio Fargas and the brilliant band, Fishbone, in the same scene.
  8. Airplane ! 1 and 2 Police Squad ! or Naked Gun Life of Brian Man with Two Brains This is Spinal Tap Young Frankenstein Team America World Police
  9. Already soaring on eBay. No longer dollar box filler.
  10. Ah, I see. Being British I’m an easy target. Clueless about that.
  11. A lot of Wonder Man hatred in this thread.
  12. Golden or Silver Age war comic artist ? So obscure I’ve never heard of him.
  13. Great choice. In my indie top 3, along with Charles Burns and Jaime Hernandez.
  14. This type of thread can get a bit pedantic at times, as in a previous one someone suggested that Eisner, one of my choices, should be excluded because the Spirit Sections were technically newspaper strips. If someone wanted to post Caniff, Foster, Raymond, etc, I wouldn’t complain.
  15. I knew one of the Brits would get it almost immediately. Roger Moore’s famous acting eyebrow.
  16. To be fair, I can detect a slight raising of the eyebrow, here and there.
  17. Jack Kirby Will Eisner Richard Corben Jean Giraud / Moebius John Byrne All artists I’ve never tired of since starting collecting in the 70s, right up until present day.
  18. I think that’s quite likely. Unless there are any veterinary surgeons on the boards that can confirm that feline kneecaps look like that. I doubt it, though.
