  1. I've just watched it on Amazon Prime. Consistently good stories throughout. Well-balanced, I thought, with high school drama for the younger audience, and a lot of Justice Society and other Golden Age characters to keep me engaged and which I thought were generally interpreted really well and with great effects for a TV series. With 4K upscaling some of the actors, including the lead, look noticeably too old for high school, but that's commonplace anyway. Showing the classic teams and characters that I've always been very fond of and the newer legacy characters; Johns successfully, very impressively, transforms his great Stargirl and JSA comics into live action here.
  2. Interesting advantage of the physical format that’s been highlighted here in this thread. Suppose you’re stuck in the ‘executive washroom’ reading a digital copy of the classic first Spider-Man story on a tablet, then this, unfortunately, has a significant shortcoming; you can swipe but not really wipe. Maybe the struggling DC could develop that concept into a rhyming marketing campaign to get readers to switch back to buying paper comics again, turn back the tide.
  3. Digital reading on a tablet, or going back through my collected editions. Pre-Covid, for almost five years now.
  4. You should have a look at Wayne Boring's even chunkier version of SA Superman.
  5. I interpret a lot of his over-the-top dialogue as bombastic metal lyrics. As a metal fan, for me, that's a very strong positive.
  6. Being evil, an environmentally unfriendly attitude makes a statement, so I doubt it. Especially so if you're a sentient tree.
  7. Goom, Doom (Van and Von), Droom , Foom (The magazine and Fin Fang) I have a headache.
  8. He was also the publisher of the Marvel Universe's version of Playboy as well, I suspect.
  9. One of my favourite Kirby Bronze Age runs. I've been enthusing about it over in the '1000 comics in 2020' thread. The first printing was an instant LCS purchase for me back then. I only wish I'd appreciated the brilliance of Devil Dinosaur at that time and bought its Omni as well.
  10. Nice pickup. The Steve Skeates stories are good as well. I've come to appreciate Aparo more with age. Great artist.
  11. In England, more likely it’ll be Nando’s. (I get the film reference.)
  12. Just considering that Disney is going after the next biggest player in the industry there, rather than the small fry.
  13. Disney - monopoly / antitrust complications.
  14. Sorry to hear about your loss. I hope the Mrs is keeping well, as from our PMs, I know she’s in a vulnerable group. I always keep in mind your experience with the dealer involved in the OO collection you mentioned here, as it’s a nightmare to think that my relatives might sell off my four figure keys to someone like him for 50 quid, depriving, say, my preferred medical and animal protection charities of much-needed funding. For the current thread, he’s my benchmark for the negative; been thinking exactly the same. Stay safe.
  15. They should set him up with a court somewhere in The Village. He could wear the Number Six vest, and maybe they could make a ball from the same material they use for Rover. They have the resources.
  16. Very miserable and American Gothic. And, would make a great professional basketball player with that height and reach.
  17. It is an over-complicated costume, Kav. Not too surprising he might’ve just scribbled some random details in.
  18. For me, it’s the first time during the pandemic that two people I know have contracted Covid, this last week. Luckily, milder symptoms. Hardly surprising that there are so many introspective posts at a time when the future is quite so uncertain. I appreciate what’s being said here, anyway.
  19. I flicked through one a few years back in an LCS. Interesting book.
  20. Didn’t they also make the weird decision of publishing all the first issues together in a single omnibus edition, despite many of them being intros to multi-part storylines? A bit pointless without follow-up volumes.
  21. Good find. The symbiote does get drawn with an oily consistency, and the eye slots are perfect. Perhaps we should get one of the Golden Age experts to take this to its logical conclusion, and find an obscure 30s / 40s reference?
