  1. Both are classic characters that will have tremendous significance to different demographics. There are also fanboys such as myself who like both.
  2. Viz Comic Published in the U.K. continuously since 1979. The most consistently funny humour comic magazine of all time. According to GCD, now up to 291 issues.
  3. Love and Rockets Several main series and mini-series, but basically an interlinked and largely continuous narrative. Quality art and stories throughout. Huge fan of Jaime Hernandez’s work. Not quite as many in total as the previous posts, but undeniable quality.
  4. Green Lantern 40 - retconned as 1st Crisis on Infinite Earths tie-in Green Lantern 59 - first appearance Guy Gardner
  5. As a Brit, I've been trying to find the issue number of Viz Comic featuring the classic first battle between the Brown Bottle and his nemesis, Cider Woman. Sure it's an issue before 100, but pinning it down has proved to be an extremely difficult task.
  6. Strange Tales 97 - Aunt May and Uncle Ben prototype
  7. Avengers 69 - first Squadron Sinister The heroic team, Squadron Supreme, first appears in issue 85, but they’re up against Loki.
  8. A modern # 4 is Ultimate Fallout 4, first Miles Morales Spider-Man.
  9. 19 should be Fear or Adventures into Fear for Howard the Duck.
  10. Thought of that one, but also thought someone might counter with New York World's Fair 1. Maybe.
  11. 2000 AD issue 2 - first Judge Dredd Venus 6 - Loki
  12. I was always fond of the atmosphere created by the simple background music in the original Tomb Raider.
  13. Yup. Tinny, 8-bit, short-and-looped versions of songs from the big metal bands of the time. Remember especially the Pantera and Metallica ones. The PS1 versions had a different soundtrack, sort of a gothic, choral, monasterial ambient score. Cathedral music, I called it at the time. For the recent games they could afford an original industrial / djent soundtrack.
  14. It did end up becoming redundant for prices. Last one I ever bought was in the late 90s, and even then for me it wasn't for much more than referencing comic book artist and character content.
  15. Interesting one. Lots of Golden Age alternatives, such as.. More Fun Comics 55 - 1st Doctor Fate More Fun Comics 52 - 1st Spectre
  16. If I don't like the service or toxic personality types at a comic store, I just simply leave and buy elsewhere, no dramatics. With no pull list it's interesting to observe how long it takes these people to notice that I'm no longer buying at anywhere near the same level that I used to, due to entitlement issues, believing that I'm far more dependent on their service than I am in reality, and the general assumption of unassailable self-importance. Until it gets to an extreme level of physical assault, as described in my previous post, or an abusive, overly-sarcastic verbal meltdown, I don't mind using these thugs for an occasional scrap or two that I can't find anywhere else locally. Just quietly transfer over to the good guys and graze plentifully in greener, happier pastures. It's a simple food chain dynamic, but that doesn't mean that the prey component of that can't take back a high level of control, and the vicious predators can't sometimes falter and starve, held away, irrelevant, at a safe distance.
  17. There’s also what looked to me at first glance from a distance as being a silver-haired Quasimodo Wolverine in the background. Took me a while to see it’s a billowing jacket. More top notch artwork.
  18. Experiences like this one down the years have made me ever less self-conscious about being neurodivergent.
  19. Just picked up Elden Ring PS5 at a good price, but I've just started and will continue with Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition for now, which has a great high performance, 60 fps upgrade for the PS5. Stunning looking game. As someone who gets into exploration, doing a lot of wandering around the Rocky Mountains, occasionally disrupted by robot dinosaurs, of course.
