  1. So who got the auction ended early and snagged the CGC 4.5 rawhide kid 141 35 center off of ebay?

Doubt you will find someone to admit to it.

I do know three people you can cross off the list tho- the person who sent me the link, me, and the person I forwarded the link to...

I feel lucky that I have a copy, but the person I sent the link to doesn't even get a chance.

I'm tapped out of cash or I would have tried to get it and I really wanted to see how many bids and how high that book would go.

Dang sellers that sell off of ebay the site after getting bids on their items is just scummy for both the buyer and seller.

  2. blush.gif Hear is something very interesting I have discovered a printing error in my Howard the Duck #15 35 cent variant it has 4 pages where the color plates were switched "see DiceX's thread in Comic Book Grading and Restoration Issue about Production Flaws".

893scratchchin-thumb.gif Hear is what I am thinking if the 35 cent variants were printed at the same time as the normal 30 cent issues which I assume they were because if they were not they would be reprints right.

893scratchchin-thumb.gif And since the 35 cent variant of this Howard the Duck 15 has 4 pages of errors and the normal 30 cent verision does not would this not mean that the 35 cent variants were printed first and after they corrected the error they printed the normal 30 cent ones. Is this Proff that 35 cent variants were printed before the normal 30 cent version ? I don't know for sure but I have seen two HTD 15 variants with this error and I have seen dozens of the normal 30 cent version with out it and it doesn't make sense that the error would happen at the end of a print run which would require plate changes what does everyone else think? confused-smiley-013.gif

Always nice to read about like-minded comics enthusiasts getting into the core of things. Maybe someone can compile a collection of such informative topics into a fanzine, or maybe incorporate it into a regular feature in one of the backissue mags like Alter Ego or Backissue. Keep up the great discussion, guys! Just reading makes me feel as if i'm transported back in time to the swinging 70s!

The whole idea of this is so weird...any similar things in any other 35 cent variants?!?

The only other one I can think of is the Captain America #212 with the missing banner, the thing is the 35 cent variant has it with and without the banner so the error got fixed even before they could print the whole 35 cent variant run so they cought it pretty quick, and I have never seen a 30 cent one with this error.

Another interesting book I discovered is the Amazing Spider-Man #174 if you look at the fat diamond ones you will notice that the P in the tital SPIDER-MAN has no color blue behind it, this error is also present in some of the regular editions so they fixed this error sometime during the regular print run. So this leads me to also believe that the Fat Diamond "Whitman/Direct Market" books were also printed before the regular editions. What do you think? (shrug)2c

The #212 35 Cent Variant No Banner, :takeit: , just let me know your asking price.

Neatstuff Collectibles had one for sale for awhile for $4k or more.

I am thinking on the more side for price since the other owners will not sell and Brian is a man of business who knows that. 2c

  3. Are folks still after the Hansi comic and some of the other Spire Christian comics (Hello, I'm Johnny Cash, etc)?

I remember some spike in prices a few years back, but I've stepped out of the Bronze age comics realm.

    Any help would be appreciated.

There are people always after high grade copies of Hansi and then you have Archie collectors. The demand has dropped but it is a good time complete your set for cheap.

Doug Sulipa does well with buying and selling them.

  4. P.S. This is a lot of money for those price variants. Of course Iron Fist 14 is a collected book because of Sabretooth, but nonetheless those price variants are… pricey! :P
No...the seller is crazy. If he had no reserve on it then he might get more bidders or better offers.

The seller deals with SPORTS CARDS and has no idea of comic pricing or how graded books do on EBay.

I would write the seller and explain this to him before you make a bid on it.

  5. There is a Iron Fist #14 35c CGC 6.0 that is at a good bid price but the seller put a crazy reserve on it that no one will meet.

 $10k buy-it-now and I do not want a copy that bad.

Huh? I am not seeing it. Where is that?

Sorry about that. I think this is the link.

It has 4 bids but is up to $609.97 and still has not hit the reserve.

  6. A couple of Archie 35 cent price variants with nice covers. :D

I find these Archie 35 cent price variants out there as difficult to find today as the Archie 15 cent test market price variants.

I'm going to hunt for these books now too. I never knew about them.
  7. Anyone see these two that appear to be fakes in the latest clink auction?

    RADE8E8B201319_102427.jpg

"Appear" is a very polite way to put it. I would feel bad for whomever buys them.

The greed in the attempt to fake books for money, and the so called validation of the third party makes me sick.

This is not the first time a seller has faked SW#1 variant. Look on EBay for a seller named Snugglebug2009. They were selling altered priced variants and sold a SW#1 in March of 2011. Some of the other so-called variants where PGX graded and would be high dollar books if they were real.
  8. Of all the Archie 15 cent variants from that time, the grail is Madhouse 22, 1st appearance of Sabrina, I believe only one copy for sure is known to exist.

I read that too, in Overstreet, along with the addendum that there is little to no chance it will be available for sale any time soon...maybe another copy will turn up...

I'd be curious to see what issues are confirmed to exist and how many copies of each issue are known and then in what grade. This is the same kind of information that goes around in the bronze age 30 and 35 cent variant threads...

Archie Comics 130 15 Cent Price Variant 6.0

    Archie 125 15 Cent Price Variant 7.0

    Archie 127 15 Cent Price Variant 7.0

    Archie's Madhouse 24 15 Cent Price Variant 2.0

    Archie's Girls Betty and Vernonica 77 15 Cent Price Variant 5.5 & 7.5

    Archie's Madhouse 19 15 Cent Price Variant 4.0 & 5.0

    Archie's Madhouse 24 15 Cent Price Variant 2.0

    Archie's Pal Jughead 84 15 Cent Price Variant 5.0

Pep Comics 155 15 Cent Price Variant 3.0

I think that is all the slabbed copies.
