  1. Last December, Skelton Crew Studio said there would be a "paint-it-yourself" white Chog in winter 2013. That didn't happen. However, here's their latest update (http://skeltoncrewstudio.com/news.html): "* “CHEW”’s pink Chogs are about to be retired. The SDCC glow Chogs are all snapped up. Another hue to lay on you: Let’s just say we hope it’s a very Blue Christmas. There will be another sweet Layman and Guillory-signed prop with the first 400; more details to come. We also have Tony’s FDA badge planned for this fall. The guys had prototypes out at SDCC if you caught them there."
  2. Looks like IDW and retailers are trying to make the most of the end of Locke & Key. New variants galore shown here: http://www.bleedingcool.com/2013/09/05/cover-variance-all-the-retailer-covers-for-locke-key-alpha-1/. Variant-itis is one reason I stopped collecting The Walking Dead.
  3. There have been a lot of L & K variants from the start. At least they're bringing out some big guns for these. I'll enjoy wrapping up my full run with a bang.
  4. 3000 is a lot of copies for a variant. The L & K #1 signed edition reportedly ran only 300 or so copies.
  5. The one on the left is a 1st print; the one on the right is a 2nd. Take a photo of yours, and I'll tell you what you have.
  6. Two ways to tell 1st vs. 2nd: (1) Look at the IDW logo on the front cover. The eye inside the light bulb is colored red in 2nd prints.; (2) The publication information at the bottom of the inside front cover will state either first printing or second printing.
  7. Duostar Racers #1 didn't have the L & K preview.
  8. It all depends on whether a movie actually gets made.
  9. Doctor Who Classics #2 (1/2/08) was definitely the first with the preview. Duostar Racers #1 didn't finally appear until 6/4/08 despite first being advertised (under "Duo Stars #1") for a January release, so it likely doesn't have the preview (I'll check). Wormwood: Calamari Rising #2 came out on 2/27/08, a week after Locke & Key #1 was published. Doctor Who #1 (2008) didn't appear until 2/27/08. See Ground Zero Omaha.
  10. For the record, here's the list of IDW comics with the three-page Locke & Key preview (all from January 2008): Angel: After the Fall #3 Badger Saves the World #2 Cory Doctorow's Futuristic Tales of the Here and Now #4 Doctor Who #1 (preview also appeared in the 2nd printing) Doctor Who Classics #2 Duostar Racers #1 (pretty sure it's there, but I have yet to see a copy) Fallen Angel #23 Gene Simmons' Dominatrix #6 Gene Simmons' Zipper #3 Snaked #2 Speed Racer: Chronicles of the Racer #1 Star Trek Alien Spotlight: Borg Star Trek: The Next Generation: Intelligence Gathering #1 Wormwood Gentleman Corpse: Calamari Rising #2 Eight of these had multiple covers (Angel, both Dr. Who, FA, SR, both ST, Wormwood)!
  11. I wouldn't call "unread, never opened" gem mint. There are plenty of unread and unopened books out there that wouldn't even qualify as NM. Anyone who claims a raw book is 9.9-10.0 is taking a huge gamble, even if there are no visible flaws. Besides, if you haven't opened it, how do you know there isn't something wrong inside? I've had only two 9.9's so far, one of which I bought slabbed, and one that was immediately bagged and boarded (not racked) at my LCS.
  12. Looks like normal bidding to me I agree. Crazy high winning bid, though, considering the seller doesn't call it NM+ or better, and there's only one photo.
  13. Great C2E2 panel yesterday with John & Rob. Though a Chew TV series is dead for now, they want to do an animated version of Chew based on Rob's art. They said around issue 60, they'll launch a Kickstarter campaign or something to make that happen.
  14. Nice comics, great packing, and fast shipping. Thanks!
  15. So, I'm thinking of selling my complete TWD run, including a raw #1 and #2 (both 9.4-9.6). I have every issue, every variant (including the 35 error (9.4-9.6)). Almost all are NM+ or better, great high-grade copies. I also have blue slabs of 75 variant (9.8), 94 sketch (9.6), and 100 Ottley sketch (9.8). What would you ask for such a stash?
  16. I can cover WW Chicago in August. I'd be happy to trade for copies from the other shows!
  17. A premium for the black now? There should be imo. I'll take the white--less than half as many, according to thewalkingdeadfanclub.com. CGC doesn't distinguish between the two versions, do they?
  18. I picked up what looks like a 9.4-9.6 #1 on eBay a couple months back for just over $650. Looks like I need to CGC it!
