  1. I do not think there is any way that CGC would make a viable IPO. Maybe I am wrong, but as an investor I would not find it attractive as their current business model is not easy to scale.
  2. Yes. I did not bother since I had no interest in submitting for others. Dumb move on my part in the long run, I guess.
  3. No. There are plenty of us here that submit a few hundred books per year and have been paying for memberships for 20 years. I guess we were doing it wrong.
  4. Likely, but who knows nowadays. It really is no different than auction houses that can bid on their own auctions, I guess.
  5. Now that PRH and Diamond are sold out, looks like there is going to be some heat on the DV 20 Sprouse variant. Ask your LCS to set one aside for you today if you still can.
  6. I have to start digging through the $2 bin stock now for all of these Marvel SW books that have been dead for so long and are now collectible again.
  7. Agreed. A lot of SA titles have continued to rise up during the usual down time for the market between end of November through February. Especially on common run filling issues.
  8. Time will tell. When DIS starts getting around to HR on D+ and the big screen, those will be bargain basement prices.
  9. I know, but that should be an option when they are this far behind. Right now I can get close to and even full GPA (with the exchange rate) for raw SA and BA books in the local market. I am just starting to sell the ones I do not want for myself raw instead of slabbing them, and there are plenty of those books in my submissions.
  10. It is not a cult like following, it is because CBCS has blown their credibility with consistently looser grading at the wrong time. When Steve jumped ship there were plenty of collectors and dealers that followed, only to return when the loose grading killed the value for the books. Personally, I find that CBCS allows too many of my pet peeve flaws go in higher grade books so I pass on them even at an attractive discount. Every company has its tighter and looser grading periods. Heck, there was a time when PGX had tighter grading than CGC - I know based on submissions I made there during another extra long TAT period at CGC. I thought they looked better, and this was confirmed when I resubbed them to CGC and received higher grades on every book without pressing and cleaning (I did not know what that was way back then ). Over time, CGC has been the most consistent of the grading companies and as a result it is the one that buyers trust.
  11. Looks like the Aphra spec train has picked up some passengers based on eBay action for DV 3 the past couple of days.
  12. Actually, with the way prices have jumped since last July and August, if you have the right books it may make more sense now to ask for them back to sell raw.
  13. This is why CGC's current approach is a bad business practice. Grade books in the order that books are marked as received and there would be less frustration. When you are receiving submissions out of order, or your books are sitting for two months while other submitters are posting theirs as shipped, it leads to frustrated customers.
  14. I feel sorry for the customer service reps as they deal with our frustration - it is not their fault that the TATs are all over the place. Unfortunately, until there is a real competitor to CGC this will continue as they have a virtual monopoly on grading comics.
  15. Such as... Whatever CHU and KCC tell him he should buy........
  16. Let's connect before the next Red&White or Calgary Expo. I can bring a couple down for you if you still need them.
  17. I was so happy to see what the 1:50 variant looked like. That will hopefully be a big book in the end as well.
  18. I am finally starting to sub my HR 1s regular and variants, HRA 1s regular and variant, and HRA 2s regular and variant, as well as other miscellaneous recent SW books. I figure that there will not be a HR TV/movie update until late 2022 so with a ton of luck I may actually have some back in time.
  19. First two episodes have been good. My son loves Mando, but even he agreed with me that Book of Boba is better so far.
