Good to see some acknowledgement from CGC. No surprise it's as high level as it is as I'm sure there are many moving parts. Unfortunately any real info about the who and how will likely take a long time before it becomes public knowledge. I do hope that these "improvements" and any further changes will be communicated sooner than later so we can all feel a bit better about the their product. Question for the masses. The impact is for the latest version on the CGC slabs or any/all?

This is better than watching Game of Thrones for the first time. Today was almost better than that WTF moment at the end of the Red Wedding episode. I don't own a ton of slabs but now thinking of going back and looking at a couple bigger Silver purchases from last year to make myself feel better. At least the books uncovered so far are all part of my OO collection or not slabbed.

A discussion about using AI to grade comic books.
universal soldier replied to VintageComics's topic in Comics General
I can see this happening at some point (likely sooner than later) but two things stick out to me that would need to be answered before this would be efficient and effective. The scans need to be done post arrival as it would be too easy to manipulate and/or fake coming from the submitter. An actual human would need to unpack, scan and pre-process etc... so how would this save time and effort? With all the QC issues you wouldn't want anyone but the grader or a trained employee performing this type of task. I've seen a few posts taking about three dimensional views. Certainly something like this is needed as even a high res scan may not show a slight NCBC or two that can only be seen at an angle or a subtle waviness that can be the difference bewteen a 9.6 or 9.8 etc.. How close are we to this type of tech? -
Sold! All proceeds to Jimbo. Venom:Lethal Protector #1 CGC 9.8. GPA a bit all over the place on this so asking $125 shipped within the US. Add $10 if someone from Canada really wants it. I'll likely be able to get this out later next week. A little history on this. I picked it up during the DJPinkPanther fundraiser so it seems appropriate to to offer it up here. Old school red label goodness According to @KCOComics who offered it up then: I'm also super lazy so I stole his pictures

Too many other things going on with this book including "Light spine splits to cover" that would preclude it from anything higher than a 7.0 on a good day. Likely not worth the chance for a minor grade bump. Still a great book. I'm also in the camp about date stamps being cool. That one is completely non-intrusive and won't impact the grade at all.
