  7. Couple minor wins this past CLink auction. I may crack this one as the FMV is pretty much the same raw vs. slabbed. (I'm a crack virgin! ) Last "key" needed for the hulk appearances of TTA. Maybe just the first sub-mariner in series left...
  8. I'm not sure I would accept random food or beverages from some pimply faced comic book nerd. You might end up in their basement

  10. 2008 but was away from 2014-2019. Back in full force now...
  11. I think I've scoured all the local places to death over the past 25+ years. New stuff still seems to come in, just not with the same frequency. With the internet, my reach has certainly broadened and at the same time, my collecting focus has narrowed. The thrill of the hunt is the same, just different venues and ways to get books. I still enjoy diving through boxes, looking for diamonds though.
  12. Nice attempt at a link drop that ties into the topic but reported...
  13. I think it's a work in progress. When they do have updated pricing, it's more relevant than something like comicpriceguide or other more static guides. I don't like how they default to a sometimes irrelevant grade if there isn't current data. It jumps around and is a bit wonky sometimes. I also have 200 books in my collection that coverprice has no data for. Some are FCBD issues but there are a number that are a head scratcher.
  14. what a d-bag. I made through maybe 5 minutes of the second one clicked away. I'm not sure what he's expecting from dealers. Does he think that a five minute conversation makes him a BFF? It's symbiotic relationship between buyer and seller that hopefully benefits both parties. I hopefully get a good (percieved) deal and the dealer moves inventory at a profit. I've met a number of people from here at cons, had dinner with a bunch and would have a beer with anyone of you. Hopefully I'll meet more of you either traveling or at cons, talk some comics, hopefully have a few laughs but I'm likely not going to invite you over for dinner and meet the fam. If over the years that happens with some people, that's cool too. I find most dealers open to respectful offers. I've made many offers here, sometimes they get accepted or countered and other times it can't be worked out so we both move on. No harm, no foul. At cons, including Terrificon last month, I was able to negotiate a discount on a multi-book purchase. I made an aggressive but reasonable offer, he countered a little and I accepted. I thanked him, grabbed his business card if so I ever make it out that way again I would be a repeat buyer. I didn't consider asking him out for dinner after the show because I thought we were now friends . Show up and if looking to make a larger purchase, be prepared with a price point(s) on books you are looking to acquire. I have two books that I'm looking to get, knew the grade range and price I was willing to spend. No one had them at the con so I went with plan B
  15. There was nothing in Lethbridge really. I checked out two stores, Showcase Comics & Hobbies which had all moderns so I didn't bother. They did recommend Pirates Cove Collectibles that had more comics but nothing really in my realm. Some oddball early Bronze and a little silver DC but all mid grade at best. Nothing piqued my interest so I left empty handed. We got to Calgary on Thursday around 4 PM so I had to rush and pick the closest store. I checked out Words & Pictures and found a few books that we reasonably priced. Not a huge selection and all priced around guide. Owner was a nice guy and was super helpful. With the Canadian to US exchange, I did okay on my purchases.

  19. Not a bad round overall with 5 points and one bull. That's a pretty generous 7.0 on that MP #110 Motion Picture #110 - 6.0 War Fury #1 - 4.5 HoS #4 - 5.5 Strange Tales #114 - 7.5 FF Annual #6 - 8.5
  20. The real score appears to be the 100 that I picked up for $20 in what seems to be VF+ or better. I'll scan and post this week.
  21. Crossing into copper a little but I was able to pick up the last few remaining Byrne run bronze at Terrificon this past weekend. I think I only need a 275 to complete that run. Finally found a decent 116 and really nice 118 plus a a few more that I was missing as well. 12 issues left to complete a run from 40 - 300.
