Is it just me or are the boards a hot mess of 500 Errors?

I didn't think about all the internal aspects. Some really good points here. When you look at the over-arching infrastructure that they support I'm surprised that they allow attachments to be stored within the system like you said, especially given the amount we use them here. It must be a massive S3 bucket in place. Clearly they aren't using the elastic option for the boards . I can relate though, our lower environments get shut down over the weekend to save some pennies. -

That's interesting, looks like they are preventing the boards from being indexed. If you google search the site --> site:www.cgccomics.com/boards it only brings back the coin forums. -

Some of the server guys are absolutely brilliant and can help you diagnose these issues in a heartbeat. I really hope someone will look at these errors and resolve the issue. The traffic that comes to these forums only help with brand awareness and improves google search results for CGC. It benefits them to keep this place up and running. -

Some of those are a bit of a reach but others are blatantly obvious. Still, wow. -

I guess it depends on the set-up but if this site is managed by the host (i.e. no internal technical staff that runs the forum) then they are at the mercy of the vendor to fix the issue. Depending on the level of service with the hosting service, the issue may be something that is low on the totem pole. If they have internal staff responsible for this, then they are either overworked, lazy or overpaid . Technically speaking a quick google search (like any good DEV would do) of the error (php_network_getaddresses: getaddrinfo failed: Name or service not known) leads me to believe that the issue is perhaps a misconfiguration on one of the servers. More often than not, these forum instances are hosted on a load balanced set-up and perhaps a recent change in DNS change was missed and the database server name cannot be found. It would make sense that the error is not all the time and as the number of users increases the load shifts from server to server. They should possibly check similar settings found in the /etc/phpmyadmin/config-db.php to see if a change might resolve this (see https://stackoverflow.com/questions/34266567/getting-connection-failed-php-network-getaddresses-getaddrinfo-failed-name-or/34304508) They should either escalate this to the vendor or, as many have suggested, have someone look at the logs to debug the issue. Third option is to outsource this to me and pay me in comics -

Good lord, this is horrible. I manage a web development team, do you all need a hand fixing this mess? Seriously, have someone look at the server logs and debug this. Not rocket surgery. -

I believe I got this at home depot but still not optimal and tends to bow with the weight of three long boxes. -
off topic: I'm interested in the science of collecting

I stopped reading the thread after this. -
Scan is gone of the 94 so here is fresh pic. Picked this up in the mid 90's from a 3 long box collection that I got for $600. It also included my IH #181 that I sent in last year for grading and came back at a 3.5. pretty much a $1 per book.

flakey tonight. -
Can't find my scan of my 94 but here is my 95 and 96. The 96 is pretty sweet, one tiny CBC on the bottom right is just about the only issue.

My first book off the rack was #110 . This run was one of my first large ones to complete and have 94 to current with the exception of V5 I think. Luckily I worked on this in the 90's to early 2000's so it didn't break the bank. GS I got raw from my then LCS for maybe $100? Also one of the first books I had graded.

Thanks for the replies, some interesting thoughts and ideas. It never really ends though. I committed to mylar back in 2009 but still only have about half of my collection transitioned. Waiting on 2K of m2's and half backs from eGerber (likely shipped in mid-October). Even my boxes need replacing. The current boxes I find to be much less sturdy than the ones from the 80's. My shelving needs to change too (similar to the image below). The overhang on the back of the long box gets caught and rips the cardboard. I have a bunch with packing tape holding them together. Considering the move to short boxes. Lol, in short -

Wow, 40K! I'm closing in on 12K right now and that is daunting enough. I try to keep enough space in the boxes but now I am out of boxes and space for boxes
