Well I just dipped my toes on these two off a boardie.
I bought issue #3 first on impulse because I really liked the cover. There are a few more in the run I plan on adding over time.
Not a big crime fan but some of those covers....
I love this title but I'm always the under bidder when they show up. I missed the 8.5 copy of 4 by $5 about 10 years ago.
This is the only one I have.
I believe Flex owns that copy now... I've been trying to get him to sell, but no go (and I don't blame him at all).
15 is a fairly desirable issue as well, classic acid in the face cover, but I think that one is more easily found than 4. My low grade copy will have to suffice.
Flex sold it to Mrillmannered about a year or so ago. It's locked up tight in his vault now. I tried to pry a book out of his hands recently and threw everything but the kitchen sink at him and he still couldn't let it go

Thanks! They are sharp copies. I got them cheap on eBay, you must have been sleeping

It's been slow going the last couple of years but I finally added 2 nice Star books to my collection.

Congrats!
One of my top 10 favorite PCH covers and impossible to find in higher grades.
What was the grade on the Bethlehem copy?

This is the raw copy from corbengore on eBay. The scan is from the Heritage archives.

I can finally cross these off my want list

Here's my copy. I've been a member of the club since 1978!

I won the 16.

Great books guys, but both of your complete sets are missing this one.

Nice books guys, I was going to bid on some of the Harveys but my plans changed when I won this.

3 classics. Ya did good, son, ya did good!
Thanks, but I was the under bidder on a bunch of others that I really wanted and got blown out of the water on the CoC 19
What was the grade and hammer price on the CoC?
You did good on the other three. Awesome pickups. Like the man said, classics!
4600 for a 9.0

I managed to win 3 books on the clink auction.

#6 and #12 are the toughies for the whole run, to me, but got those awhile ago.
No question about that. And #6 is the scarcest.
Although you never see #7 in anything above 5.0.

What are the most sought after crime/horror/sci-fi/adventure precode covers?

Here's a group shot of my favorites from last September. I've picked up some great books since then so I will have to take another group shot soon. It will be hard to decide which ones to replace but all the Cole covers are safe.
