  1. Still need a #105 to get a better picture
  2. There is still a big hole in the upper left corner though..
  3. House of Mystery #175 VF+ to VF/NM: $325 1st app. Cain, Neal Adams cover This is one that is hard to grade. Book looks like it is a killer NM- but there is a small tear along the lower staple near front cover, the staple has not pulled through but seems fragile. Still an absolute gorgeous copy of an hard book to find in such high grade.
  4. trange Adventures #206 VF/NM: $300 Neal Adams art begins Look NM-/NM but there is a very faint crease on lower right corner that barely break colors. Still a magnificent copy with a killer spine. Such a hard book to find in high grade. Much harder than #205 (look at the census).
  5. I don't care if it could press to 9.6, pressing it is the last thing I would want to do, I like it untouched and unrestored. For my collection, I rather have an unpressed 8.0 than a pressed 9.6 anytime
  6. I thought I was winning a book tonight on Comic Connect... ...but then came an extended bidding period of 3 min, then another one, and another one.. I am done bidding on that site
  7. Moreover, if trimming and color touching were practices as accepted as pressing to still deserve a blue label, all comics today would be pressed, trimmed and color touched to get the most of your buck and that will be the new standard. Hmm although I found micro-trimming and color touching on cracked books that had blue labels but at least that is not a standard....yet
  8. The sad thing in all of these is that the best known copies are no longer in their original state but restored i.e. pressed just to get a grade bump. It is no longer an hobby. It is pure manipulation of books to get the highest money. Comics are now commodities.
  9. New acquisitions, hard to find these unpressed today and with nice centering so very happy with my purchases. The #101 is particularly nice for its given grade. I was looking for several years to get a copy with good wrap i.e. full stamp, etc. The #110 would probably get a paper quality upgrade to OW with a straight resub, great centering on that one too. Two more books saved from the restorers pressers!
  10. Mine looks better now without the Photobucket stamp on it... I love the centering on this one. Full 12c, full stamp and full issue number square. I like it when 8.0's look that good.
  11. Any chance to have a better and larger front cover scan?
  12. I prefer scissors to scalpel for the inner slab, better control that way, I cracked hundreds of slabs and never had a damage yet. New slabs are a greater challenge for the outside slab but paper cutter are doing great. The problem though once the slab is open is when you find restoration on a blue label: you cannot put the book back in its slab... But some people here where very successful in derailing that thread in such a way that it got closed...
  13. LAST Price Reduction: $800 $750 $700 $675 $650 $625 NOW $600 + shipping cost for the full run. That is $3.09 each book on average.
  14. Four Color #159 VG : $100 Carl Barks art (1947) There is 2 1/2" X 2 1/2" inside page corner torn off. Note that the spine has two small binder holes through the entire book (visible on scan). It does present much better than its technical grade.
  15. Sheena #8 VF+ : $300 Totally gorgeous copy! Book looks NM- but has a small tear/hole on the upper left of spine along the word "Sheena". Inside pages are white.
  16. Archie Comics #44 Fine+ : $350 Montana cover Very attractive copy for its technical grade but has some foxing. Inside pages are light cream to off-white.
