  1. There are certainly worse books to accidentally win. I've won books that way, usually emotional bidding. One time I accidentally put in one extra zero. What a hassle that was.
  2. Let me shed some light on this. I won the GS 13 and the DS 11. When I tried to pay, ebay wouldn't let me, saying I would have to lose one of the purchases. It still didn't work. Dave called ebay the next day but no go. Ebay couldn't fix it. Dave told me he set it up as a BIN with my final hammer price. I tried but it didn't work. I go to the boards and find a link to the auctions on this thread. I put in 2 bids. When I go back to my emails, it tells me I've won the auctions. I have no explanation for this and since I got what I wanted, I didn't query Dave any more. Throughout Dave was courteous, patient and friendly. I hope he posts more of his magnificent books. The DS was an upgrade, while I have been on the hunt for a GS 13 ever since I foolishly sold my original low grade copy that I bought for $5.00, a long time ago.
  3. Looks like the storage unit was targeted and the perps knew the contents to some degree. Is there no surveillance footage? Mine is 24/7.
  4. Did anyone else notice that Crime Reporter 2 made it's first appearance on Top Crime Books in the new Overstreet? #8 at $2200.00.
  5. 3 9.0's and one 9.2 is not that many considering it's deemed a classic cover in Overstreet. I think they were graded, at least the 9.2 and 2 of the 9.0's, before OS recognized it's classic cover status. Of course collectors knew about it long before. It's almost a Tec 27 in it's niche following. That copy that just sold was the same copy sold twice on Ha. Doesn't sound like a lot of copies to me.
  6. A Cinderella Love 25 3.0 sold for $8K on these boards. I know of ppl who say they would pay that price without hesitation. $10K seems not unreasonable for a 4.5.
  7. Didn't surprise me. I thought it might go even higher, the market for this book grows every day and the supply is looow. I get asked about my copy and my CL25 all the time. When I go to shows strangers come up, weeping that I should part lol.
  8. Unbelievable copies of super tough books. That Tar 12 that we have discussed here, looks incredible. The highest graded copy, a mere 4.5, just sold on CLinl for over $900.00. Most of us would love to get our hands on that copy, and just about all the others. At the time I thought the 6th Street prices were ridiculous. Now they're a joke.
  9. Could go to $30K. I was there in real time bidding on this thing on ebay back in 07 at a grungy internet cafe late night. Lost it, of course, apparently to Fischler, so this is his copy I guess.
  10. I was thinking the same thing when I saw the label. Good, I have a couple of supposed Circle 8's.
  11. I actually like 19, it doesn't hit at first, but his crowded composition creates claustrophobia and there is a tension with the guy's arm keeping the distraught mother from seeing the girlfriend who is nicely drawn with cute legs. So there..
  12. You are not just buying a Baker, you are putting a piece of the Baker continuum in place. A desire to see the ebb and flow of the master may help explain this power.
  13. Used to belong to John Verzyl.
  14. Don't have a pic of mine, but it's different than yours.
  15. You own a 37 in cgc 6.0? There are 2 listed on the census. Steve owns one and, wait for it, I own the third.
  16. 38 is pretty tough, and you got a nice deal yesterday. I've owned 2 37's so I think it might be more common. The fact that 38 in cgc 5.0 sold for $1500.00 last month is testimony to that.
  17. Probably ASM 50 that I sold with most of the rest of my comics when I needed partying money. This older guy at the coffee shop over heard my comic stories and when we eventually talked he said his family ran a convenience store that stocked comics. His parents kept the unsold bundles. When he inherited the business, he tossed everything. When I asked what years we're talking he said 50's and 60's. Gulp.
  18. Harley Yee use to say if someone complained of his prices, "then don't buy the book".
