  1. Appreciate the quick response... One last question: for any of the SS events, do these signing dates after the event has taken place get posted on any of the CGC's forums? Thx Again!!!
  2. This is my first time submitting books for a SS and being its the Wolverine signing, but what timeframe of the actual signing? Some time in April or May? I understand there is a 25-30 day window to get books regraded/encapsulated but I wanted to get some idea as to turnaround. Thx!!
  3. I hate to beat a dead horse but I stumbled on something on eBay related to another Wolverine Limited #1 as a CGC 9.9 grade Signature Series book. Dude wants $250K for it... It has 8 signatures on it across a number of years (Jim Shooter's sig is on the book but no mention in the label). According to the Verify CGC Certification lookup it shows the book was authenticated on 2021 as a 9.9.. I don't see this book as a 9.9 by closely looking at the image posted on eBay... How is this not flagged as a questionable CGC authenticated book? Considering all the nonsense going on with CGC books getting swapped out... If anyone is bored feel free to cross-check signed dates and the CGC verification number from the post on eBay because I must be missing something on this as well or I have way too much time on my hands!!
  4. Doesn't matter in what galaxy we are in... Han Solo was right... Im having a bad feeling about this!!
  5. Though from what I read 9.8 graded books in some scenarios do come back with a lower grade after a signing.. thinking this may have been a bad idea... Is this a common occurrence?
  6. QQ.. First time I am submitting books for a signing.. What is the actual turn around time for the books? I submitted books late Jan 2024 for a Bill Morrison signing that according to the news, books needed to be submitted by Friday Feb, 16th 2024. When does the clock start for an actual turnaround? I also submitted books for the Wolverine 50th anniversary where books need to be submitted by April 19th 2024.. I am thinking some time end of summer is when I would see these back.. Thx!!
  7. Appreciate the feedback. I thought I missed something with this, similar to double covers or the way other misprints are treated... but P.T Barnum once said there is one born every minute and it is a CGC 9.8 so opening bid is $1.5 million! Any takers?
  8. I got mine back from CGC as a 9.8 White pages... with an 1/8 inch thick black line going down along the edge of the back cover... I figure I could ask for more if deemed rare..
  9. Can someone explain to me why a Wolverine Limited #1 1982 back cover black line variant is deemed super rare? I found it a bit odd and curious if this is this something CGC adds to the grader notes. It's an obvious printing issue by the manufacturer from what I see offered on eBay and was a tad surprised(?) as to the asking price for a CGC 7.0 grade book. Am I missing something here?
  10. I was in the process of determining to slab books in my PC what I think would be 9.8 candidates to sell... I just started going thru my PC that's been in storage for over 30 years... As far as the staples go you are correct as they are smaller on the inner side and you are also correct there is no way to prove what happened because I have no idea. This was way back in 1981 so I don't recall where I got these from. Those were the days of me and my buddy buying books wholesale and selling at the small Cons in Chicago (they used to be monthly at the downtown Pick-Congress Hotel on Michigan Ave, if your from Chicago...). They are too good of condition to be manhandled in any way. Plus why even bother on a DD #227 newsstand? Not exactly a high price issue... I guess the only option is to send to CGC and get their professional opinion on this. Worse case if they don't grade at least a 9.6, I wont bother slabbing them and eat the $9 charge... Best case is I have books with a hopefully not a Restored label with bonus staples at no extra cost!
  11. This is a pic of the outside cover as you can see the normal two staples This photo is of the book from the inside back cover.. you can see the 2 staples holding the cover plus 2 additional that are stabled to the book but not the cover... And finally the the center showing all 4 staples... May have CGC announce a buy 2 staples get 2 free grade!!! After further review 2 out of the 3 books are flawless (minus the extra staples). The 3rd book has small tears around one of the staples on the cover. There are no CGC graded books over a 9.4 for this newsstand edition.. I hate to think these 2 books get slammed for the extra staples as they are at least a 9.6 candidate... and I approach the grading for myself as ultra conservative.. It would be a manufacture defect and I may bit the bullet and get them graded.. I can touch base with you all once I get them back which may be a few months... Appreciate the feedback!!
  12. I was an huge collector back in the late 70s early 80s.. I was guilty of buying multiple copies of new books I enjoyed that came out with the philosophy of read one and store the others in bags and boards.. Just recently I was pulling out a bunch of books from my PC and found 3 copies of DareDevil #227 Newsstand edition from 1986... but as I was going thru the books to send to CGC, I noticed that all 3 of these books have an additional staple in them but not attached to the cover... only on the inside... on top of the 2 that are used to attach the cover.. I have never seen that and I can tell you these books still had the static to them (pages stuck together) and the new book smell as never read... I had a couple of other NewsStand additions of DareDevil but none of those have that issue of additional staples. Will CGC will ding these as part of the grading process? The books are flawless even though it's a manufacture issue(?) Thoughts??
  13. Appreciate your feedback!! Yes the signatures are in the book (first page) as most of us back then never wanted it on the cover as it took away from the look of the book. Even the artists all felt the same way when we asked to sign them ( although John Byrne did sign my Silver Surfer One-Shot #1 cover across the Surfer's board.. I'll admit it does look cool!!)... Got me thinkin that getting something slabbed with an artists signature in the book doesn't help when you can't actually see it to show it to someone... I guess at that time the artists that I was lucky enough to meet and talk to were more than keen to sign books for the fans without looking to make a few bucks per signature.. They were just glad to see the people enjoy their work!
  14. I've noticed these posts going back to 2021. Curious to hear if CGC has changed their grading related to signatures on the first page in the book. Grew up collecting comics back in the late 70's and early 80's in Chicago attending those monthly cons (for those of you if you're familiar, the small monthly Cons were located in the Congress Plaza Hotel on south Michigan Ave!!). Just recently started going thru my PC that's been in storage for the last 40-50 years.. Found a few books that I had signed by artists/writers that I want to get submitted... but hesitant that the grading will be impacted. Books are in NM-MINT condition.. Any thoughts on grading impact by CGC? Thx!!
  15. The book itself is in the VG range and my thought was having something of value due to the rarity of the NDS insert. I figure it's more bragging rights so I will just hang on to it. But who knows... we should start a new trend similar to "newsstand" copies everyone wants for Bronze age books... Anyone can have a rare MJ insert.. But a NDS insert can trump that!!. Using the MyComicShop site as a reference when I was searching for any info was very helpful to get an idea of which books contained this type of insert https://www.mycomicshop.com/search?SeriesID=5091&p=2&AffID=1003187P02 Appreciate the feedback!!
  16. Hey All... going thru a storage container of old PC books of mine and found a copy of FF #132 containing an insert. At first I thought it to be a Mark Jeweler insert, but after removing it from its bag/board I found its a National Diamond Insert. Going back thru this particular thread to get any updates... it's been a while (far as 2013). I understand Marks Jewelers is big, but does NDS make a bigger impact in FMV for a book? Does CGC note this if I were to have it graded? Thx!!!
