  1. I have a real connection with bored zombie guy from the Walking Dead. His first appearance is in issue #22 on pg 10. He's the one on the far right just kind of hanging out. He's got his shirt off cause he wants to get some sun on the dead skin. He's probably thinking "Ugh, this is so lame. Really, I gotta stand here all day moaning and mess. I could really use a nap."
  2. You're absolutely right, back then, a "what would end up to be" an 8.0 was the same thing as a "what would end up to be" 9.8, and sold for the same amount, unless it was being sold by a VERY savvy seller, and then it was much, much more expensive,. Of course, not even the super anal high grade collectors like me could conceive of what was to come. We just picked out "the very best we could find." The number of people who rejected "what would become 9.0 or lower" books in the 90's? What, maybe 100? And of those, how many could actually afford to hunt out these copies in Silver and earlier? 10? 15? 20? Certainly not me. High grade collectors, though, form a tiny, tiny niche segment of an already wildly shrunken market, so while that market has definitely been birthed and wildly grown by the advent of CGC, it's still just a tiny part of an already small market to begin with. Pre CGC and even before I started to take notice of CGC in its early years everything that was 9.2 or better I simply called near mint. I often have trouble picking out what a 9.4 (NM) would be now because to me thats what 9.6 and 9.8's used to be. I'm often surprised at the little defects that some 9.4 CGC's have.
  3. If you're making the comparison with '98-'99, perhaps...perhaps not. Any other time period? Not a chance. Late 80s and early 90s, there were LCSs absolutely everywhere...and all of them stocked 1,000s & 1,000s & 1,000s of back issues. Hell, a good proportion of their income was generated this way. These days? Try to find a LCS. Try to find one with back issues. The closet CS to my house only has back issues from the last year or two. They barely even have comics in the store. They are more of a RPG and models shop than a comic shop. There are maybe two shops in Vancouver with decent back issues and one on the outskirts. One other shop has more back issues than most stores but the area they are kept is impossible to access because it is covered in toys and other .
  4. RMA - sell me your crappy New Mutant 98's. I can't wait till someone gets a CGC 10. Maybe it will sell for 30k
  5. nice. I just checked a raw copy I bought a while back and found out the tatts were gone Stupid me for not checking I'd like to get a nice looking copy like this too
  6. 100% I totally disagree 100%. You're basically saying I could take peoples money on ebay without ever shipping and come on here and sell books with no problems. (I'm not saying Lbjarm took the money and ran btw) I just don't understand how you could have dealings on ebay or wherever else, screw someone over than come on here and sell as if nothing happened. I think Count mentioned Robojobo a couple posts back. I guess he could just come on here and start selling stuff by your logic. What some folks do not understand or want to understand is that, AS THE PROBATION LIST STANDS NOW, it is for Forum Sales only. To quote for the umteenth time The following Board Members are currently on "Probation" for failure to complete a Marketplace Forum transaction in good faith after one month's time. Now if someone wants to track a list of complaints about things like like board members' ebay transactions gone bad, that is fine. But that is not what the PROBATION list is for. fair enough

  8. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nYSYipouABI As soon as I saw Torch write Blame Canada I remembered that movie. Nice one Bosco.
  9. What does shipping to Canada have to do with it. I'm sure if it took you over a month to ship to an American they wouldn't be happy either. This is comical. $50 worth of freebies that haven't arrived ..and now I'm getting faulted I don't think anyone here is calling you a thief either. Lazy, YES. Hopefully you guys work it out once the stuff arrives. (thumbs u
  10. Back cover slight thumb crease or barely visable bend or crease, faint...back cover? If it's a white back cover they can be even more difficult to see, you've got to hold them flat to the light to see it. Front looks good, I'm betting whatever the problem is, it's on the back cover. Possible slight bend? [/img] very very hard to tell. Beautiful book regardless
  11. Nice book c-mack. I haven't had a 129 since I was 10 in 1990. Traded my neighbour a bunch of crappy hockey cards for it and than it turned out it was his dads and he was pissed and wanted it back His dad came over to my house and I said I didn't know what he was talking about than he asked to speak to my dad "Just give him the comic back" whatever It was actually a lower grade pos but at that age
  12. New kid in town. You need to check out Ghost Towns registry Its great too because his set has 100% PICS He`s put some effort into it for sure
  13. Sell it for a profit? You'll still get your money back and more. Not as much as you had hoped but mess happens
  14. Picked this up yesterday at the Vacouver comic show from a nice guy (forgot name ) for a great deal Machine gun-toting Baker girl [/img] Got nothing else worth posting - just 70's to modern Spideys, Bats and Walking Dead
  15. Yes...and oh, btw...you're supposed to check the obits in your local paper and cross out the dead people in your phone book daily to keep it up to date... So I'm not the only one that does this
  16. Thanks to Rick for the speeeedy service and the opportunity to own this GEM. Anyone wanting to do biz with Rick will have no problema. He's fast, knowledgeable, fair, honest, and ships ultra fast. Enjoy the scans of a 50 year old rare event! Awesome (thumbs u
  17. No Any of you guys know how many different Schomburg posters are out there? I know of Suspense 3 and possibly a MM death ray gun cover if I remember correctly.
  18. Picked this up today from a LCS [/img] Man I love it
  19. I posted recently that I got a couple back issues from #20-52. So I went out and bought the trades for the missing issues. OMG! What a great series. I can't even remember the last time I got this engrossed in a comic. As soon as I started reading I couldn't wait to get to the next issue. Now I'm all caught up and have to wait an entire month I honestly didn't expect this series to be this good. Yes some of the violence is a little Whoa, but man is Kirkman an awesome writer. Any idea of how long this series is supposed to last?
  20. You should start at the beginning..you can get the tpb pretty cheap! And welcome to the club!! Was kind of a stupid question. It usually is better to start with #1 My LCS had no tpb's left so I'll probably have to head downtown sometime soon. I just hate waiting to read something once I get some issues. and Thanks for the welcome!
