2nd copy just came in from heritage. Will be keeping these in my permanent collection. No flipping on these! My initial plan was to get about 4 more in the 2.5 -3.5 range but i couldnt help myself and had to get myself another 7.0. They're mine, all mine

    :whee::whee: :whee: :banana: :banana:

  2. And an AF #15 CGC 6.0 ow w/chipping just ended at $26,850 on CL.

Again, prices are all over the place and challenging to make any sense of, and its been that way for years.

Its all about good eye appeal!

But the 5.5 had chipping too, so the difference between a 5.5 and a 6.0 is only $2000? Again, tough to make any sense of pricing on this book. Definitely not a book you can consistently say is $xK/point like a lot of other keys.

Very true, i was surprised with the strong price for the chipped 5.5

  3. Along those lines…

I have a 7.0 Blue in the upcoming CC Event auction. However, there are also a 7.5 and 5.5 (both Blue) and an 8.0 Purple in the same auction.

Opinions please: does the 7.5 in the same auction help or hurt the bidding (hammer price) on my 7.0?

    Thanks

I hate to say it, but the presence of the 7.5 certainly has the potential to hurt the hammer price of your book by removing at least one bidder -- the winner of the 7.5. In addition, given the clock resets that CC uses when a lot is ending, it's possible that the losing bidders on the 7.5 won't know that they've definitely lost until after bidding on your book closes. So those bidders won't have had a chance to bid on your book.

I was hoping that the group of bidders for the 7.5 wouldn't have much overlap with the group of bidders for the 7.0. Also was hoping the higher bids on the 7.5 would coax the 7.0 bids upwards...

Some good points, there 1 minute apart from each other on the end time.

  4. I just got my copy back, and was more than a little surprised!

Page 12 has the "Important announcement" from Stan Lee on one side saying they were dropping the word "Adult" from the title.

You need to get over to Ebay and buy page 12 right now. It's being sold for $169. Complete your comic!!!

So now, what to do? Do I resubmit? Is there a way to reattach that doesn't get me a purple label?

If I just lay it in there loose do I get a 1.0 because of the detached pages? Should I just Ask GAtor? :D

How about, just leave the book and page slabbed as is. As a buyer i wouldnt mind having a 'complete book' in 2 different slabs, i rather have 2 blues insted 1 green or purple

  5. My 7.0

    Cl 7.5

The comiclink af15cgc 7.5 ended at $68,500 which makes me very excited. They should have had a better scan of that 7.5 since the gray background is yellowish. Dont know if thats the lighting of the scanner or the actual book. My 7.0 has clean grays, no yellowing

  6. Never seen one on a DC book lol

Actually, 'Marvel chipping' does happen on DC books. It's just not as common, but especially in the mid - late SA I've seen plenty of it.

Hey Roy - would like your opinion…some in this thread have estimated that both the AF15 and Bat 1 could go for 50K each…what do you think?

My man, I try not to speculate on future values anymore. When it comes to desirable books. I'd just value on the lower end of a given range and be excited if I exceed it.

    :applause:

    Great advice.

By the way the two AF 15's in the heritage auction both performed remarkably well, either equaling or exceeding GPA by a lot.

I would say that bodes well for your 7.0. (thumbs u

    What grades were they?

    5.5, 4.5, and 4.0ss

    What did they sell for?

    5.5 $23900.00 - previous high $20455.00

    4.5 $16730.00 - previous high $14655.00

    4.0 SS $13145.00 - previous high $8070.00 but that was in 2012 - last high for a 4.0 was $13501.00

    (thumbs u

    Big gains!

The 5.5 has hit 23,900 before on heritage

  8. FYI - my AF 15 7.0 is now with the Metro guys. Alas…I am no longer a part of this awesome club. :( But look for it in the August CC event auction! (Along with my Bat 1, 2.5 !!!)

    --Racer-X

woah those are two mega keys congrats

Most definitely (worship) I've consigned a few high dollar books with CC and have always been pleased with the results. You should do fine.

    +1

That 7.0 should hit 50k or more easily

  9. Someone is going to have a great comic to add to this club.

Coming up in the May CL Auction (not mine) -

This is my old copy that I bought in 1991 from John Verzyl. For those of you who know the collection, this is the Daniel Erwine copy. The 2 biggest defects on the book is the chip out of the spine & someone (before I owned it) started to erase Daniel Erwine's name from the bottom of the 1st page. They put a small hole in the paper. The book has no Marvel chips or tears at all, a real beauty as a 7.5! It looks like an 8.0 all day long.

Has the gray background become yellowish?

    Surely, that is the scan.

    -J.

This copy sold on EBay in late 2011. The seller will do very well. Nice copy!

$20k net before fees. If its tge scan causing the yellow distortion. I would bid higher if i knew the gray background was actually still gray
