  1. I think a lot of the appeal of a printer error book is in whether or not it looks cool. The white Venom books look cool. Some of the chrome books that are missing the foil look coil. The FF error book looks cool. It's the combination of the visual appeal of the error, along with the popularity of the title, which gives the book value, imo. And even then, as has been stated, values are all over the map. If selling, I'd set a high BIN and see if you get any offers. I wouldn't roll the dice on an auction format with a B-tier character like Hawkman, even if it's neat and "rare", because the right eyes may not be on it at the time.
  2. Exactly so. It's not "right", but can almost certainly be easier. I've gotten slabs from auction houses before with a few light scratches that weren't mentioned. It sucks, and it's annoying, but it's also much faster for me to just buff it out than have to deal with emailing, waiting on a response, mailing the book back, etc. It's all a matter of how much you value your time over being "in the right."
  3. It took me a couple of years to put together the full IDW hc set without paying above retail. This was one that I had a little trouble finding, but then one day it came back into stock at Target, of all places, and I got it in a B2G1 free sale. Most of these books went through like 15-20 printings, which is kinda nuts. There would be occasional stealth restocks. Took a lot of effort. I sure hope that one pans out for you!
  4. Wasn't a comic sale, but all the same, had an auction end yesterday, and today the buyer requests cancellation due to "found a better price." I have already canceled and blocked. fredflintstone77 UPDATE: So, I canceled and blocked, and messaged the buyer POLITELY explaining that bidding is a contract to purchase, and that I would cancel in order to save the hassle, but I would be blocking them going forward. I wasn't rude about it, I was very straightforward. I received no response, as expected. A couple of hours later, another auction I had running suddenly got a big run up and was won by an account that was created TODAY, and immediately sent a cancel request as soon as the auction ended. They messaged and said they were new to eBay and didn't know what they were doing. I'm 99.9% sure this is just a vindictive move from the guy I blocked early, but regardless, you'll also want to block dbot-71
  5. I'd love to get back, the last couple of shows have fallen when I've been out of town or had other things booked. Staying too busy, need to take a break and come buy some comics!
  6. Yeah, my eyes went immediately to the blue Snaggletooth. Well done, @Azkaban those are really sweet! I don't collect SW anymore, but if a collection that nice fell into my lap, I'd have a hard time giving them up!
  7. Sorry, haven't been able to log on for a while, first because I was out of town, then because work started blocking the boards (the nerve!) Anyway, no one cares about that, I'm back, sign me up!
  8. We were out of town for a few days, and when we returned, the remaining packages from my Pulse Powerdays splurge had arrived. Like, I hadn't planned on army building Madroxes (Madrii?), but when they're $16 shipped...why not? Also included was this TF Lite Brite set. I gotta say, when they first released this thing, I was tempted, as it looked pretty cool. But it was $99, and I didn't think it was $99 worth of cool. Most people must have felt the same way, because eventually they cut the price in half, down to $49.99. And it still sat. But at $49.99, plus 35% off, I could no longer resist! I probably should have bought several, but something tells me it'll still be around for the next sale. Now, to find the time to assemble it. Have to imagine it's going to take a while. And that's that, at least until the next sale, which will probably be around Black Friday/Cyber Monday. Also arriving are the recent Pulse/Amazon exclusive Senator two-packs. I'm all about this stuff, the more obscure the better.
  9. Yeah, I've never understood the appeal of wrassln' myself, so it's not my bag. I'm sure that you could tell good stories about it, though, same as anything else. Yes, Redemption for Prowl, as they took him just a little TOO far.
  10. I don't think I know Daniel Warren Johnson's work. Name doesn't ring a bell, and I don't really read moderns anymore, with very few exceptions. So, not impressed with the promo art, but maybe in the context of storytelling it'll grab me a bit more. I will attempt to remain open minded! Yes to Prowl, Gimme all the Prowl, all the time.
  11. Not in hand yet, but I won this one on CLink last night. According to GPA I got a decent deal, but it wasn't a screaming steal or anything. Still a strong price. Loved this cover for a long time. I had a lovely raw NM I sold a few years back, and kinda regretted it ever since. Will be happy to have a nice copy of this back in the collection.
  12. The art is pretty lackluster, but hey, it's just a pin-up, so I will reserve judgment. I've been spoiled by years of Milne and Roche. Skywarp was one of my first Transformers, and I always loved his color scheme, but having two Seekers and not all three feels odd. Of course, who knows which characters will actually appear in the book itself? I also appreciate Skybound making their stance on FIRRIB clear, right out of the gate!
  13. Oh cool! That makes total sense. I honestly hadn't looked at the registry in years, so I didn't know there was another set, that's really great!
  14. Yes, Siege Jetfire really is terrific, and I was happy with him, but I couldn't pass up the MP figure. It's just so horking HUGE, and also doesn't have all of that needless greebling that the WFC figures have. I will 100% confess to being a "Geewunner", so I like the stuff to be as close to Sunbow as possible. Ugh, MP Devastator, you just made my wallet cry!
  15. Oh cool, so there's already a general Aliens set? I hadn't checked, but it would make sense if the DHP issues were included there, sure. The set we're talking about is the 1988 miniseries set, which has suddenly had the Amazing Heroes book added. Doesn't make sense. I wonder if the intention was to add it to the 1988-92 set you've mentioned, and instead they put it in the wrong place? So, yeah, a general DH Aliens set would be great, and it should absolutely include the DHP stuff. If it's already there, terrific! Regardless, the miniseries set should just be for the mini, and those issues could also be included in a macro set.
  16. PS: I'd enjoy seeing a general DH Aliens registry set, to stick in the random one shots and miniseries and spin-offs, under one umbrella. That would be fun. But this set should just be for the original miniseries.
  17. Do you mean the Dark Horse Presents issues? No. Originally it was just the 6 issues of the original mini-series. Eventually they added the various printings of those issues as well. And that's all it should be. If they want to create a general Aliens (Dark Horse) set that would include the original mini, the subsequent series, DHP, and this magazine, etc that would be fine. But including the Amazing Heroes in a set that doesn't include any other books just doesn't make much sense.
  18. It's true. I think the white cards really contrast so nicely with the other figures.
  19. Packages from the Pulse sale keep rolling in, sufficient to make me think I may have a serious mental health issue. Oh well, so be it. The fact is that I was waiting on a big sale, so this was an opportunity to pick up about 6 months of "Oh, I'll get that when it goes on sale," type of items. Stuff that I was content to wait on. Couldn't beat the price, so had to put my money where my mouth is. This should take care of my Hasbro needs until the Black Friday sale in November! Anyway, today's package contained Legacy Evolution BW Transmetal 2 Megatron (a package refresh of the Legacy TM2 Megs I'd missed out on previously), as well as the MP-57 Jetfire. MY WORD. Skyfire is ENORMOUS. Boxes shown for scale. This is a big boy, holy moly. It was like an hour before bedtime when I decided to open this guy up, and I did not feel like putting myself through the hell of trying to transform him. So, for now he stays in jet mode, which is still ENORMOUS. Love the teeeeny tiny little Autobots that are included, which are surprisingly well articulated themslves. I'm working on rearranging my display, so this is what the Jetfire/Skyfire shrine looks like for now. Was just about able to wedge Siege Jetfire in there with the Masterpiece. I'd wager this guy is worth the full asking price, but at 35% off and free shipping, it was the deal of the year. Wish I'd bought two.
  20. Yeah, if there's one group of folks I really do not want to see floundering naked in the muddy surf, it's comic book fans. Myself included.
  21. This was happening to me again yesterday as well. When it takes you back to the home page, go to your profile in the corner, the dropdown, and Sign Out. Then sign back in. Works for me. This is what Mike advised when I was having similar troubles a while back, and it worked. It may look like you're not signed in, but if you "Sign Out", it will REALLY sign you out, and allow you to sign back in. Clear as mud? Sorry if I'm not explaining it well, but it does work for me, hopefully will work for you as well.
  22. Oh, I love those Alpha Flight sets. I have bought and resold them so many times. I love the fact that at one point in time, Alpha Flight merited a sub toyline that was selling on toy store shelves. Blows my mind. SO, I pick them up...then eventually I sell them, because, eh, I don't need them. Then, eventually I run into them again and think "Man< i do love these." and I buy them again. I've done this like three times. They are super neat. And I'm not really a Byrne guy, but I think it's so cool that they used his art on the cardbacks and trading cards. Just a really cool presentation all around.
  23. I've been away, just seeing the news. Very sorry to hear that, Mike. It's a day we will all have to deal with at some point, and yet we hope it never comes. May her memory be a blessing to you. Take care.
  24. Yeah, that's odd. Definitely wasn't me, I don't even have a slabbed copy. It does have a unique Mark Nelson cover, and there are some folks who will tell you that it's the first appearance/preview of Aliens, but there have been several books to flirt with that distinction over the years, so I wouldn't pay it much mind. So yeah...I'd say it should come off the list, but what do I know? It's a cool Alien tie-in for sure, but it's not even a comic book, it's a magazine.
