5.0/5.5. I think the staple tears might hold this one back a grade, especially since it's a high census book
I don't think there are staple tears. It's just creases. Here's what it looks like from the inside. I don't think the paper is actually pierced. What do you think?

So I found this book in my childhood box, and it was, uh, well-loved. The cover was very wrinkled and I thought it would be worthless so I decided to practice on it. I put it in a humidity chamber and pressed it a few times, and I think this is as good as it's going to get. There are still some crease remnants that you can see when you look at the gloss from an angle. (Kind of hard to photograph.) Several spine stresses as well.

4.0/4.5. Very outside shot at a grade higher if all the grime is on the surface & removable. I would be hesitant to invest the time and/or money in trying to boost the grade of this one. You'd need a really high grade copy to justify CGCing this one IMO.

Thanks for posting.
Thanks. I don't think much of the dirt will come off with normal cleaning, unfortunately.

Front has a general 4.0 look to it. 4.5 if not for the brown spoon along the spine. The back is worse. Max 3.5 overall
Thanks. Did you mean "stain" or is spoon a term I'm not familiar with?

7.5 even with the spots?
-
My main concern with this one is that there are two spots where the gloss is broken. I'm not sure if they are considered stains or something else. The one near the UPC is slightly raised, the one near Colossus is fairly flat. The raised one will probably press out but I haven't really tried.
I think it's a good practice to put grades in spoiler tags so as not to influence others, but I'm grateful for any input in any case.

I realize they need to take it out to grade it, but I'm not sure if it affects anything otherwise.

Before you start pressing books yourself, it would be a good idea to research manufacturing in comic books. Learn what is correctable and what is not.
Thanks for the reply. I have been pressing books myself for a while, and I have done miswrap corrections before. I'm certain that it's easily correctable. It's not rocket science. I'm just wondering if it's worth the effort in terms of grade/value since CGC often overlooks miswrapping but some collectors dislike it. Do you have an opinion on that?

I have a copy of Marvel Premiere #2 and the staples are on the front. Is it worth it to flatten it out and press the spine where it should be, or does it not matter?
