  1. Anyone got cool GA covers with superheroes at play? I think it would be neat to see a few in honor of the Labor Day weekend. I'll look thru mine, but none come to mind. Share 'em if you've got 'em!!
  2. I remember which cover you are referring to, and I'm almost positive it was a "Superman" cover (not Action or WF), but I could always be wrong. I'm not sure which came first, but this Daredevil Comics is the Aug '43 issue. Hope that helps. Regarding the $$ side of things, I don't want to avoid your question, but I picked it up off ebay in the past month, so a simple search would give you the answer. However, I think I picked it up at a fair price (I was the only bidder), and I'm pleased to have picked it up for what I did.
  3. No, but this is the third Daredevil Comics (all slabbed) I've picked up. Anyone know if there are reprints available in any format for the old Lev Gleason Daredevil books??
  4. BTW, I just picked up a fairly decent scanner from Sam's Club yesterday, and I'm just getting around to playing with it. Seems to do pretty well. I picked this up from SNE a few months ago. Great WWII cover.
  5. Just got this yesterday. If it weren't for the "ding" on the upper right corner and a few "pinholes" in the same area, it would've easily graded higher. Regardless, a great looking book with excellent eye appeal. All IMO, of course!!
  6. That's OilFireMan.... I thought we determined that was NuclearRadiationMan...
  7. I've just been playing with both Imaging (Kodak) software that came with my digital camera and the Paint software that comes standard with Windows. Try backing off a little when taking a pic of the book, then use your software to crop off the extraneous edges. That should help. Then, you can use your scanner software to back off the resolution if need be. Hope this helps.
  8. Actually, I purposely attempted to show a broad selection of books. I reached from where I usually display some various books (I do use the UV-protector mylar sleeves while out on the bookshelf), and thought I'd throw them up. More than anything, I'm trying to learn the digital camera, managing/cropping/transferring digital pics, setting up my webspace with my ISP and placing pics in postings. I thought I'd try to throw out some eye candy while learning a little. Perhaps I'll put out some more soon. Enjoy!!
  9. Yes, I've always thought that was one of the nicer older 'Tec covers that never really gets a mention. Thanks.
  10. I'm not sure. There's a small bit out of the bottom right of the cover, otherwise it's a very solid book. I'd give it an 8.5 or 9.0, but that chip would get a tick off from CGC for sure. And it's an awesome cover, with fantastic splash pages inside!! I'm looking to get a scanner in the near future, and hopefully I can get some better pics up, but the web space BellSouth provides me limits the file sizes to 150K.
  11. Still working with a borrowed digital camera, the personal website space BellSouth gave me, and my own limited knowledge of this techy stuff. Hope you guys don't mind. Thanks!!
  12. Action #22 - yeah, it says off-white pages, and from what I can tell, it's far from off-white. But I've always felt CGC has been lenient with page color on older books. No, haven't read it, but not planning on cracking it open. This purchase may inspire me to pick up an old DC Archives hardback or two for Action Comics to read some of these cool older stories. And I've finally figured out how to post pics directly - set up my personal web page with my ISP provider, and linked it from there. Not intuitive, but not that hard either. Maybe I'll borrow a digital camera and put up some other books I have. Good luck to all.
  13. Just picked this off ebay about two weeks ago. My first foray into "lower" graded GA books for me, but the higher-graded books were getting too damn expensive...
