  1. Congrats on the sale. The buyer must really know his grading. It would be difficult for me to ever buy a book of such worth unslabbed for fear of it coming back a much lower grade than expected or even worse PLOD. Did you attach any sort of "guarantee" to the book?
  2. Anyone dare buy this SC 23 raw on ebay? Listed as a VF with seller at 28 feedbacks (100%). http://cgi.ebay.com/1959-Showcase-Presents-23-Green-Lantern-VF-Very-Fine_W0QQitemZ110443999161QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item19b6f9afb9
  3. Most likely it is the the one HA sold on 5-10-06. http://comics.ha.com/common/view_item.php?Sale_No=820&Lot_No=2101&src=pr#Photo
  4. There is a SC 22 in the Nov HA auction?
  5. There are already 3 in the current CC auction, and they close in a few days. http://www.comicconnect.com/bookSearch.p...arch=Run+Search And that 5.0 has a history. Supposedly, it was sold raw, subbed and came back purple 5.0, returned to Metro, then appears now in the auction as a blue 5.0. The thread is in general by the peeved buyer.
  6. This book hasn't been offered very much in auction at all so there is definitely pent up demand right now. That would suggest heavy bidding in the first couple of auctions. Once supply hits the market from the recent plethora of CGC submissions and less demand from people having already gotten their copy, the price should ease off a bit.
  7. Do you know the grades of the 23 & 24?
  8. doesn´t really look like a 8.0 to me Some pretty heavy ticks/creases and a few stains/marks on the front and back cover. Looks decent but 8.0? How does it compare to the similar grades? You've got the wrong back cover. The airplane jet is the #22 BC image. Nice copy...appears to be a 6.5 to 7.0 from the scan. The back cover is not the SC 22 back cover. If you have a better scan and a back cover scan, I can give it a more accurate grade. Sorry for the wrong back cover. It was the order they had it in, but this may be it:

  10. The comment was from me, although I may have gotten the prices mixed up. It`s about bed time for me, so I`m not going to go get it, but it should be easy enough for someone to post the Heritage copy. I believe the CL copy has been posted in this thread, so everyone can compare for themselves. HA copy is here: http://comics.ha.com/common/view_item.php?Sale_No=820&Lot_No=2101&src=pr#Photo
  11. Purple label 5.0 has hit the bay. http://cgi.ebay.com/Showcase-22-1st-App-Green-Lantern-Silver-Age-CGC-5-0_W0QQitemZ260470252730QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item3ca53ca4ba&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14
  12. I hope it sells for a good amount, and gets the ball rolling in having people release their copies. Too many hoarders!...
  13. Parlez vous francais ? Oui! Je parle francais! Don't know the seller, but he has a good track record, sells books on many occasions, and has another book he listed concurrently Appears to be ok. Matching the serial number with the book in a French auction just tells me it is the same book... But hey, it's buyer beware when buying books on ebay... And I guess we're the only 2 up tonight. I'm still up! There's a SC 24 4.5 on ebay right now. Stains throughout the book probably... http://cgi.ebay.com/SHOWCASE-24-CGC-4-5-3rd-Green-Lantern-app-DC-1960_W0QQitemZ380144216808QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item58825c6ae8&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14

  15. Not sure what it means, but doing a search on the serial number turns up an old ebay listing in France... http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=cgc+0770419001&aq=f&oq=&aqi= FYI...
  16. Gerber doesn't make Mylites in the Legal size - only Mylites2. A lot of people also use either the Hotflips CGC Flip-n-stick bags or the Bags Unlimited resealable CGC bags - both of which are poly, not mylar. Thanks. I have the hotflip bags but I like the clarity and feel of mylites more. I was looking at BCE's Arklites and Arklites2 which both seem to fit CGC. I'm assuming most don't order thru BCE because of their higher price, though. Maybe add a small slab section to your OP?
  17. For those of you who do use Mylar for slabs, do you use the 1mm or 2mm?
  18. That is an absolutely awesome resource. Thank you so much, I was just going to purchase too!
  19. Thanks for everyone's advice. As I really don't know what I should ask for maybe I'll take jimbo's advice and put it up on ComicLink. My biggest concern is I'll sell the book and 1) someone will resubmit it and it will get a grade of 9/9.2 as CGC is inconsistant in their grading of page quality (IMHO) and even if they don't change the PQ there seems to be have been a change in standards as some LT-OW books get 9.0 or 9.2 now 2) A pressing wizard will acquire the book and it will be optomized and flipped for a lot more than I sold it for. To put your book up on Clink, might really be yout best option. As of your concerns, as discussed in some other thread recently, the LT pq could be improved, by having the comic pressed by a professional, like Matt. By pressing, not only the pq might improve, but also the grade. He can then send the book to cgc and it might even come back a 9.2 or higher. However, the best way not to be angry about someone else resubmitting the book and get a better grade afterwards, is to do it yourself. Send the book to a professional, have it resubmitted to cgc and then list it on a site or even better, put it in an auction on Heritage, Comiclink or CC. Whatever you do, it´s a very beautiful book! Good luck with it (thumbs u I strongly disagree with this advice. Don`t press the book. Just leave it alone. I'm not sure if you said not to press it because you are against pressing. But from a pure "get as much out of the book as possible" potential, NOT pressing it might get you a better return. Why? I think because people will be bidding on the potential of the book which in their eyes would cause them to bid the book up more. IOW, you get it pressed, but only see a slight upgrade if at all, then you don't gain much value. Leave it, and some crazies will be seeing "$$$ i can press!!!" and bid it up on the potential alone which is a risk you may not want to take but others might. After all, in an auction, it only takes 2 bidders.
  20. It's lost its "freshness", but I still get a kick out of it!
  21. Nah - it will be a temporary delay if any. As I stated in the Comics General thread, this is a long term trend we will see more often as the $US declines in value a bit. The flip side is that it will mean more movies will be shot in the USA which will keep jobs and $$$ there for the industry. WRT the impact on the book, I don't think it will do much unless it is outright cancelled. Even then, SC #22 has been undervalued for so long that it will not drop much if at all. The true movie hype phase has not kicked in yet - this is just the rush to reserve a copy now. Sounds good but you know Hollywood. Once things hit a kink, people tend to move on to the next project and revival takes a long time. I hope not. I'm looking forward to the movie. I think my hollywood knowledge is pretty good. I get it all from Entourage...
  22. Green Lantern Having Production Problems? Bad news for hoarders of SC 22 based strictly on the promise of movie hype? Good news for those of us looking to get a copy regardless?
  23. Was at Metropolis a few days ago. Saw at least 7 or 8 Showcase #22s. Not sure if they are on their site. No surprise since they did an email blast to customers trying to buy up 22s. Sure they will be setting up at whatever show and in auctions with a zillion 22s, as they often do with the hot key of the moment... Ah...the free market. Even if they don't turn a profit on it by snatching it up at premium prices, it's a good loss leader to attract eyes to their auctions. Good marketing tactic, etc, I suppose.
  24. I posted this a month ago when I found it on Metropolis for $170. I guess rusty staples might go for more on Ebay?
  25. I dunno about that. CC had some pretty good results with DC books. Tec 400, Flash 175. And of course, they set the bar with GL 76. Seems Sc 22 would be right up their ally. The current CL auction has very good books too, so I guess we can further judge prices realized.
