  1. A classic Ditko cover and there’s nothing existential about it!
  2. We can’t take the comics with us but I like to believe we can take the good in helping others with us
  3. I want to mention a boardie who had one of the greatest collections ever. That boardie (some of you may know who I’m referring to) sold off his collection and is doing incredible work to improve the lives of others. He will have something greater than passing on a comic book. What that boardie will have is a legacy of having made this world a better place for some.
  4. Kind of also has to do with how they value the stuff we enjoy. Generations change and time has a way of wiping out memory. The 20th Century American comic book is a relatively new art form that came along with America’s greatest contribution to the history of art - film. Technology is changing the art of film in ways that were not expected. Who knows whether the movies of today may end up becoming the nickelodeons of yesteryear. Comic books may or may not be around depending of historical forces we can’t see. The hope we collectors have is that posterity values this art form we love and continues to embrace it. Our descendants (for those of us that have them) are the greatest hope we have to see that as many memories as possible of our lives are passed on. There’s the written history and there are the possessions we valued. There’s always hope that should we pass these books onto them, they will appreciate them in a way that permits them to connect to the world we once had. Time will tell…
  5. I’m sure there’s a few guys bragging about their collections in cemetery. Kind of like what happens in the Saunders novel “Lincoln in the Bardo.”
  6. Billy, you have a beauty there! Also my favorite rendition of Kirby’s Hulk. I love how Jack drew Giant-Man and Wasp too. Might also be my favorite 2 panel Marvel SA cover. The covers on TTA 59 and 60 made them must haves for me.
  7. Biometric stickers are included. The spinner that came with Prog 1 in the C-Link auction. That’s impossible to find so it must be sought after because I would have played with the spinner as a kid and probably broke it. Can’t imagine there are many out there unless it’s made of durable plastic, which I doubt it is.
  8. Next year’s Overstreet Price Guide will need to add these classic Bronze Age keys.
  9. For those that aren’t aware, 2000 A.D. Prog 1 has Judge Dredd making his first ever appearance to the world in this advertisement: My guess is Prog 1 will be viewed as the equivalent of the TMNT’s appearance in Gobbledygook 1. Great history for the Bronze Age!
  10. Becoming clear that 2000 A.D. Prog 2 is a major Bronze Age key. Fascinating that a British created character has a first appearance that might very well become a top 5 Bronze Age book. (I don’t own a copy!)
  11. Someone got a great deal on 2000 A.D. Prog 2: Considering what this sold for: And where this one is now:
  12. It’s amazing how he does it. I’m waiting for him to show us his time machine!
  13. Change the name of the thread after seeing the beautiful MS 2s! Jack Russell!!!
  14. You’ve morphed into “Galactus, Devourer of Marvel SA 25 Centers!”
  15. Am I correct in giving kudos to the British for having the longest running Bronze Age created title. 2000 A.D. has been going now for more than 45 years. It’s cover date precedes Heavy Metal Magazine’s by one month. This would be an incredible achievement that started with Prog 1 (first issue) and had a new interpretation of Dan Dare along with a detachable free “Space Spinner” on the cover. Interestingly, it appears that 2000 A.D. and Heavy Metal Magazine have outlasted all of the original Marvel and DC titles initiating during the Bronze Age. Not bad for the anthology format if this is correct.
  16. I can understand that…Stan took credit for also drawing the cover.
  17. That’s what happens when you hang around the GA forum too much!
