There’s a great deal of fiction in this hobby. I’m still wondering why this book wasn’t put up for auction?

This was extremely difficult for me and it came down to this: I loved 50s Sci Fi and horror and this one captures that era along with the lost world genre. The “War that Time Forgot” reminds me of “Kelly’s Heroes” meets the “Land that Time Forgot.” I also remember taking my plastic army soldiers and tanks and used them to fight the plastic dinosaurs my mom bought for me off the spinning rack in the local pharmacy. I’m so happy we didn’t have computer games and smart phones back in the early 1970s. It’s a “place and time that I will never forget…”

It comes down to preferences and there are those that see BCM 50 as the better copy. I happen to prefer TOT 15 because of the woman’s terrifying reaction, and red color that will generally result in a more alarming reaction on the part of the person viewing the cover than the colors on BCM 50’s cover. They are both incredible covers nevertheless and deserve their place among the greatest precode horror classics.

What is your single favorite Silver Age cover? This can turn out to be easy for some boardies and extremely difficult for others. It may take some time to ponder about which Silver Age book has your favorite cover so don’t be hasty (I’m having a hard time trying to finalize my own favorite). You can only pick one so please do not post more than one cover. There’s no going back once you pick the cover because this is an exercise to get you to think a great deal (for those of you who are finding this exercise challenging) about which is your favorite. For purposes of this thread, the Silver Age begins with Showcase 4 and ends with the 1960s so you’re welcome to start another thread exploring whether it is or isn’t if you disagree with these parameters. Seeing that cover on any newsstand when it first came out was more than enough to draw anyone’s eye. Seeing the terror on the women’s face and all the reds on the cover further defines what makes it one of the top 5 precode horror covers. Unlike our looking back in retrospect, they didn’t know what the story was until purchasing it and reading the pages in between the covers. That’s one of the beauties of this hobby.

Why wasn’t the book put up for auction?

I have one answer for every time an “undervalued question” thread surfaces about a specific comic book: 1) Undervalued if you own a copy 2) Overvalued if you don’t own a copy

That’s a thousand plus foot tall dinosaur (T-Rex I guess) given that it’s around the same height as the Empire State Building. Poor Kong would have been a snack for this gargantuan!

Try and imagine a “Madmen-type” streaming series based on comic book publishing in the late 1960s at Marvel with Steranko as one of the main characters along with Lee, Kirby, Adams, and the rest of the bullpen. Then imagine the rivalry with DC Comics and how they battled for comic book supremacy. Really cool!

Flash 105 is such a special book that gave meaning to his preceding Showcase books. What’s also cool is when you place it along side Showcase 4, 17, 22 and Challies 1. The cover colors with the reds, black, yellow, green, and blue make for an awesome mosaic!

Thank you and goes to my concern about interpretation. There’s a conclusion that DC submitted More Fun as evidence “as their earliest claim to Superman.” I’d like to see where that’s stated and/or what document(s) support(s) this conclusion.

Can you refer me to the source specifying this as DC’s earliest claim? Thanks!
