  1. Hi all,

I'm doing something a little different in promoting my auctions, I'm having a contest with prizes.

Here's the link to my auction promo thread.

Here's the link to the post within that thread, explaining the contest and rules.

Spread the word, bring some friends, and let's test our knowledge of today's market for these books. (thumbs u

Thanks for putting up with me. (worship)

    Cool Idea.

  2. Hola All,

Russ Heath was not there. Mick said he recently ad some knee surgery and wasn't able to make the trip. Billy Tucci who did Sgt. Rock: The Lost Battalion was there and he brought some of his original art to peruse. He is a WWII nut and is a great War Comic aficionado as well. I will let Mick recap the list of attendees. Food was delicious.

    Hasta,

    Pablo

  3. I look forward to meeting many big 5 collectors tomorrow at the SD big five dinner. Mick invited me even though he knows I am Sgt. Fury collector first. He also knows I am long time friend of Don Mangus who is a friend of many big five collectors. Ican tell some good stories about Don.

  4. I found him with Michael Zulli and Dave McKean. He is one of the nicest people Ihave ever met. Period. He had 4th printings of #1, 2nd printings of #2, and 1st printings of #3. He had his art "aged" art prints. He had those really cool portfolios with the different color covers. He had CPG bag and glass. He had a new print called the leather push. Let him tell you what that means. There are only 50 copies of the print.

    Hasta,

  5. Salidas..... OMFG.

    Simply gorgeous books.

I remember when this thread started some years ago... and now it's up to 550+ (on my viewer anyway) pages.

I check it probably every day. There's as much pleasure to be had from reading the passions of other collectors as from the books themselves.

As for Sgt. Fury, there were some excellent stories by Mike Friedrich and art by John Severing in the issues in the late sixties. 'The All-American' in (I think #81 or #88) is amongst my very favorite war stories.

One thing I NEVER see on these boards, though, are Charltons.... probably a good reason for that. But as I discover more and more of them, the naive art and story in most issues has a strange appeal.

Issue 81....a great story....stop on by Delaware and I will show you the Original Art Cover....

    Go Fury. :applause:

  6. Julio is doing a good thing getting the word out on this little known series.

Up here in New Hampshire, they are so rare, we have to grow them naturally and all it takes is one Kenny Loggins rockin' gopher to ruin the crops.
