It's unfortunate that in comics, a market is now decided by how well a movie does.
It shows that it's a fickle market.
Somewhat true, for the market can go in cycle or shift. If you read my last quote to DarkKnight:
True, but if you bought any big keys before 2008 you are doing just fine. An example, if you bought a SC22 in 2010-2012, you were under performing not until the later of 2015 . But again, the market is so "first appearance" driven now, so group of characters forming a team; such, as Avengers 1 or BB28 doesn't have the appeal as it use to. On the other hand, Fantastic Four 1 and X-men 1 contains many first appearances which out shines Avengers 1 or BB28. Another example would be X-Men 94 which lost a lot of luster to Giant-Size X-Men 1 and Hulk 181.

Given the climate in 2011, the book didn’t appreciate all that much for some time
That said, fast forward to 2018 and the market for those keys has taken a dramatic turn north in the past couple of years. Any complete copy these days is 6 figures at entry point.
So an Action 1 or Detective 27 both with complete cover entry .5 should garner 100K+ or either book complete with the front cover (can have missing back cover) should command 6 figures easily. I bet the Acton 1 example Knightsfold mention can easily fetch 200K+ in this market environment.

You can practically say that about any Marvel or DC key. You would be doing very well had you bought then. But if in the past 2-3 years, then not good if trying to sell.

Impressive result indeed.
I was also very impressed with the 8.5 results. The 7.0 wasn't to shabby either, it perform 60% over the last public auction 7.0 over 3 years ago.

Well, it's no secret that B&B 28 has been declining in price for the past year now ever since it's spike 2 or so years ago. The results didn't surprise me at all. Looks for DC keys, all the momentum is on SC #22 right now after the CL sales.
The movie didn't hit it out of the park didn't help BB28. The book still doing well if you bought 5 years+ ago.

Overall I think the AF15 prices in CL were decent when you look at what was sold.
1. The 9.0 seems in line with the last recorded 9.0 of 395k. 20k bump after a year makes sense. Maybe like 5% off full market but this isn't a stock its a bid on a rare item, you cant track it to the penny (at least I cant).
2. The 7.0 is about 15% higher at 110k then the last recorded sale 3 months ago. I know a few have moved hands privately but in public auctions this seems like a strong price.
3. The 6.5 voldy just proves again people are shying away from this company. Badly centered or not that book came in like 5-10k light. I bet whoever buys it is gonna crack and ccs press and regrade in hopes of getting a 6.5 CGC, or worse case a 6.0 and at least get out of the lesser respected case.
4. 7.5 restored, 'meh' its a shoot on those anyway
5. 5.0 was chipped and below average PQ, doing 34k seems right to me based on past sales. it should have been on the lower scale from last year and it was. Price moved up a LOT in the last 12 months. It leveled off and stabilized after the mania subsided. This seems like the new norm for chipped above average pricing.
6. 3.0 at 17k makes sense. Chipped up and a wear spot on on the cover with average for grade PQ. Its actually a strong price considering it was low end 3.0
7. 2.5 SS with Tan pages and Tape for 14k seems exactly right for this. No chips, but everything else not great.
8. 2.0 UK for 8200 seemed low. No chipping, good PQ and it overall looked nice for a 2.0 It just looked very nice for the grade. Had this been a US version Honestly I think it would be a great copy for a collection. I think to many copies up for sale hurt this.
9. 1.8 for 11.5k was a very strong sale, Think that's a public auction record? I know the cover had all those cracks and it had tape on the interior but it just looked better so i guess it makes sense.
Prices all made sense and seemed strong overall. I really think the trend of "going up as we get to summer" makes sense. Prices just seem to rise the closer we get to summer and convention season. Nothing about this auction struck me as crazy low or high in terms of AF15. Looks stable, stable is good.
Great analysis.

For that 550k money on the voldy 9.4, would one want the 462k CGC 8.0 conserved that sold a few months ? Seems like the CGC 8.0 conserved copy was a bargain or perhaps mega golden age keys are on the uptick again.

Looks like Foolkiller's copy unless he sold it since his acquisition of it last year.
Really gorgeous copy! Why eager to flip so soon?

I just sold GAtor's 6.5 copy, so he's right.

Wow..that strong price for a 6.5. What would you think a 7.5 blue label can fetch these days?

Someone BIN-ed it ...?
From the listing it states 550K sold. I just saw it today, so maybe sold during the weekend?

Five years ago a SC4 6.5 blue label could be had for around 12-15K. Congrats on holding the book this long.

What a nice PQ copy.

Speaking of Action 1, has anyone seen the Action 1 voldy high grade on Comicconnect? IGB work I presume? I was surprised to see a Tec 38 lower grade unrestored on the bay being sold by them too. Thought they work on every book to make em high grade.
I would assume it's IGB It sold today

AF15 has been a major lucrative flipping book for many and reap great profits for long time holders. Loads of copies being sold by profit takers and many has been absorbed. The large move has been made, and the next big move up will be anyone's guess.

"Out of Stock" I would think would usually imply it is no longer available. Unlike other books on site, you cannot add that one to your cart.
There are several other books that are "Out of Stock" ie Tec 28 restored ( that was a Heritage item )
The Tec 31 5.0 for instance can be added to your cart ( if you feel like spending 175K )
So it sold, but I'm sure not at that top 1.7 Mil, they did mention taking offers on the site.

AS 8 was undervalued for decades, just like Cap 1. Both of those books are still on the upswing. Said before that in ten years I predict Cap 1 will be the #3 book in the hobby. How far up could AS 8 go in the top 10?
+1, but will be interesting if it will give Superman 1 the run for the money

Can't wait to see you get your TEC27 one day. Saw you had three major pre-robbins pick-up this year...astonishing and well done!

No way
wanna bet. A 3.0 Action 1 CGC 3.0 sold for almost 500K about two years ago.

The ComicLink Tec 27 2.5 went for 380K so I'd have to say an AC1 2.5 would go for roughly same amount or more.
The Link 2.5 would sold for more if it wasn't the tape and not a true 2.5 in this current CGC standard. An Action 1 CGC 2.5 in good paper (no brittle) will command over 500k+.

If a incomplete Action 1 .5 brittle fetches 110 over three years ago, this 1.8 restrored brittle should have no problem hurdling pass 200K.
