  1. Some highlights from yesterday's garage sales - ad said "Simpsons, Uncle Scrooge, and Batman comics" - And this one Definitely a copy a kid read - probably a 6.0 (that's just glare on the right edge) - but for the price, I'm not complaining. Had to sweat it out though, since he said he wanted to keep a few for sentimental reasons. When he got to the BA12, I held my breath, but he just kept on flipping along - he did pull out the Batman Adventures 1 and a few others, which was fine by me.
  2. $25 garage sale pick up - nice selection of sketch books from about 15 years ago when the guy attended SDCC. Unfortunately, he was holding onto his comics.
  3. Unfortunately - no glasses - just these thrown in But, the guy did throw in a vintage Rocketeer shirt, and a large size promo card for the 1994 Marvel cartoon series
  4. Craigslist pickup - nice Dave Stevens/Rocketeer lot, and some Marvel mini series runs.
  5. This morning's garage sale haul Also purchased this interesting piece of art for a fair price
  6. $50 on OfferUp - a little toasty, but I couldn't drive to the guy's place fast enough to pick it up
  7. Flea market pick-ups - comics were 50 cents each, magazines were $2
  8. Tony Fleecs was signing at my LCS, and did this sketch for my sister of her dog
  9. Not much of a story - it was sitting in the front of a short box at one of the vendors booths - I made a beeline for it and grabbed it (and began furiously looking for #2). Nothing else of note in his three other boxes (I picked 3 other junkie books just to make it $1 ) The funny part is there was a comic book dealer already in the booth looking around when I got there - I was shocked he didn't see it since it was right in front, plain as day, but didn't ask any questions.
  10. All from the same garage sale - I think the second one is an internal DC style guide. The third one was the big surprise - when I got home and took a closer look, it turned out to be a Jim Lee signed giclee print limited to 150 - not bad for $2!
  11. The ad said the garage sale would be on Sunday, but you could stop by Saturday afternoon when they would be setting up - glad I did. It was a girl's collection from the late 60s, early 70s, about 350 comics overall, so mostly Archies and Harveys, but about 30 DC romance comics, a few oddball titles, couple of Wonder Womans, a coverless Spiderman 29, a stack of Mads, and the Strange Tales 70 was a very nice bonus.
  12. Highlights from a small stack of $1 finds at the thrift store today
  13. I assume you are talking about this sale? Do you know how much they went for? I assumed this one would be a sleep over affair to get them.
  14. Busy day at the flea market with lots of finds First up were these 3 for $5 each Next, I bought a bunch of Star Wars Dark Horse books - nothing too great, but the guy gave me 40% off sticker price, so I was happy Some random books I picked up along the way - the DC Comics editorial presentation was interesting These were really interesting - Mexican printings of Classics Illustrated from the early 80s - I loved the cover art on these And right before I left, I ran into a vendor with 2 long boxes of $1 books - here are some of the highlights Honorable mention to this first edition (but not true first printing) of the first Peanuts strip compilation book for $5 - has bone white pages And this $15 piece which looks like an illustration of Robert Redford from the 70s - but I can't make out the name of the artist All in all, a good day to go out hunting!
  15. Nope - wasn't there. But, completely unrelatedly, he had the complete Epic/Marvel run of ElfQuest (1-32), so that was nice.
  16. Yup - the deals are out there. Case in point - paid $30 for all of this yesterday - nothing too spectacular, but the books were in great condition, and you can't beat the price
  17. Pickup from a Craigslist ad - about 200 comics, mostly Epic/Eclipse and other random mid to late 80s titles. I missed the best of the bunch when I was looking at the collection - but was pleasantly surprised to see the Raphael jammed into the right side of the box when I got home and took a closer look
  18. $40 Craigslist purchase - about 85 books including 15 DC Universe logo books and 2 copies of Flaming Carrot 27
  19. Went back to the thrift store where a couple of months back I purchased a nice stack of comics that were once owned by someone named Caleb. They must’ve brought out another box of Caleb's books, because I bought another 20 or so today - mostly sketchbooks and indies circa 2007-2013, the highlight being Head Lopper 1 and 2 (self published version) - not bad for $20 all in.
  20. Picked this up at an estate sale this morning- wasn’t cheap, but was able to bundle with lots of other stuff so that the total price for everything I purchased was very reasonable. The estate had literally tens of thousands of books - but very little in the way of comics (although it was day 3 of the sale). What’s interesting about this (to me) is that it appears to be a reviewer copy - but the bibliography is still cut out - although the classified ad inside said it was intact.
  21. Craigslist find - 150 random Bronze Age books - 100 Marvel, 50 DC. Nothing too spectacular but the price was right
