  1. Great to see more postings on this thread. At some point I will reconnect my scanning station and scan and post some new pics. Also at some point I will submit a bunch more raw books in for grading. What I ought to do is a grading contest with all Prehero and Atlas books - pickups from the last 2-3 years. That would be very cool. I will have lots more great pics to share, some prehero and a lot more early Atlas pre-prehero books. Just way too busy with work and family right now... in the meantime those of you who do have spare time, keep the posts coming!
  2. This thread has been really quiet lately. Did any boardies pick up anything on Ebay tonight?
  3. two labels on that batch were incorrect. I think I reholdered them already. I am ages behind on updating scans.
  4. A few more... The WOF is Kirby cover / Chris Rule inks, per mycomicshop.
  5. Not sure if I posted either of these before. Some of my favorites.
  6. A bit nicer copy, and some variations on the theme.
  7. Here's a raw copy of 60. I may have sold this one a while back.
  8. Great copy! That or a few of them already have one in grade or better. It is tax season, and some of us who have to write a check this month may be out of the market for a bit. Maybe you can thank Uncle Sam for that great pickup.
  9. That's another one I didn't notice until you were perceptive and kind enough to point it out in this thread. Here are scans of my copies: This is a great thread! Seems like the flying saucers frequently went in the top right corner.... with the person of interest on the left looking out at the saucer. This one is similar in sort of a different way...
  10. Nice pick-ups! What's that "VG" where the numeric grade is expected to be? Did CGC make another labeling change recently? or is that a sticker on the case?
  11. I can offer one of them for your viewing pleasure That's what we're talking about. I figured boardies may have one or both 8.0's. Mine is in a 7.0 holder.... with nice eye appeal...
  12. There was a JIM #51 CGC 8.5 that sold on ebay for $350-400 range and then was immediately resold for $1150 or something like that (at auction, I think) a few weeks later... Seems like this was about 5 -7 years ago that that happened. Someone can probably find out specifics on that book. I think the resale was off ebay. #51 is a robot cover - crossover appeal? I like the cover on 52 too, so maybe that's not a good yard stick. 54 is tough - a half dozen total copies graded?? But #56 is pretty tough too. What venue was the #56 for sale at? Also, if you really like them, and a half dozen or dozen books come up per year from your want list and you're saving up - say $200 a month for a book. This is how your auction schedule goes: bid, click, dang - got outbid... next time through, a few hundred bucks more ready... bid, click, dang.... then you mentally add a few hundred more to the pile each time until you finally win one. Or on the flip side, you tune out for a few auctions after 6 losing auctions in a row. I also think another thing that contributes to sale price fluctuation on the less common books is the venue. I think that there are more than just a few collectors out there willing to pay high prices, but frequently many of them just don't tune in to some auctions, or they don't have time to do a thorough search, or don't tune back in at closing time. I completely missed the auction yet again, I had been watching two (non JIM) books and was frustrated to have missed closing time, only to see the post closing summary that they went well beyond what I would have been willing to pay...
  13. Thanks! Glad I checked in today, upgraded one book I've been looking for a few years...
  14. I plan to post, maybe in a few weeks when things slow down and I can scan things in. I picked up ST #76 & a solid raw mid-grade ST #46 - both top books on my want list this year. Not sure what my others would be... Glad to help you guys build your collections. Also thankful for some trades and purchases from boardies that benefited mine. marvel_runs
  15. Hehe... nice pick-up on that ST 57. Here's a fun shot. A little fuzzy from my phone, ...... where is that dang camera charger???
  16. Love the TTA #29 cover and that's a really sharp copy. Great pick up!
  17. Yeah, sorry about blowing the secret. Just sharing an opportunity with some fellow boardies, most of you guys probably check comic connect fairly often anyway, and the books have been in the auction preview for a couple of months now. For what it is worth, I can't bid on over half of the PH books in this auction... so less competition. I'm sure there will be chances to pick up some low-hanging fruit. I put in a handful of tracking bids on books that aren't mine, but will for the most part sit this auction out as I've been doing since the beginning of summer. And thanks. Not all the CC prehero books are mine, there are some really nice Nic Cage books and some others. I'm happy with the way CC for the most part kept out doubles of issues. There have been a couple of CL auctions where multiples of PH books came up simultaneously. Not sure if it is just happenstance or proper auction planning. My guess is the latter.
  18. Always amazing books, keep them coming! Here's a nice #1 to go with your #2: For anyone interested, this one is actually up for Grabs on ComicConnect.com right now, along with a really nice selection of mid-grade+ prehero books with great eye appeal from my collection. I had to cobble together a bit of money a few months ago which means there's an opportunity for you guys to fill in some spaces in your registry sets / collections.
  19. There have been a couple of CL auctions with weak closings this year on PH stuff. They close at a bad time for me. I came away empty handed on this auction. I put in strong bids on about 10 books in the morning because I couldn't be on the computer around for the close, and just happened to get outbid on all the ones I tried for. Had I been watching them end, I would have bid on some of the cheaper ones, I might have gotten 2 or 3 upgrades. I've had situations where I've bid on two copies of a book at auction and won them both and didn't want that to happen this time, so I picked one of each - the wrong one, I guess. Also, I passed on a couple for PQ or miscuts or things like that. With so many books up and limited funds at the end of summer here, I was overly selective. For sure too many duplicates at this auction. I think it would have made sense to separate the 8.0 and under books in one auction and the 8.5+ books on a second auction.
  20. A gift Krang? I have a little bit more comprehensive advice - never look any Krang in the mouth! And honestly, I don't think climbing on its back is all that good of an idea either. Nice pick up, I was too busy to do a search and missed this one.
  21. Very nice to see others posting their gems. I have been way too busy to submit anything for grading lately. I don't have anything uber high in my stack to send to CGC, but have a few nice gap fillers. I wish I had a few new slabs coming back from CGC right about now - especially this guy... which would benefit quite a bit from a good press.
  22. I had an eye on the TTA 30, but was so p'ssed off after seeing the price manipulation on the ST 97 that i didn't bid... seems like someone retracted their bid and then reinstated it. I thought Clink was becomming a serious auction house but looks more like ebay where people can put in bids to feel out how high they need to go to get the high bid... then remove then, then snipe.... Thats just wrong. Makes someone think twice before putting in a $7500 bid or any bid for that matter.
  23. That's a nice looking 6.0 from the front scan and nice pq too.
