So what is everyone's prediction for the final price of comicconnect's coverless tec 27?

Allow for me to kick this thread off with my most recent acquisition.
The "Holy Grail" of our hobby ... Action Comics #1.
While I realize that some might scoff at the notion of collecting individual pages or the fact that this page contains non-Superman content, I couldn't be prouder to add this piece of history to my collection.
Since the cost of a complete copy is out of the price-range of 99.999% of collectors, owning a slabbed unrestored page that features the 1st appearence of Tex Thompson (a character that lasted for the first 74 issues of Action Comics) is a truly amazing feeling.
On an obscure note: Since this is the second to last page of Action Comics #1, it had to have once been attached (as a wrap) to the second page of the book that features the 1st appearence of Superman.
Pretty cool IMHO.
Where did that come from? Was it slabbed just for you? The Clink ones were full wraps right?
I purchased it directly from another collector.
When I called CGC to get the graders notes (just to see if they could tell me anything beyond what's already printed on the label), they told me that they slabbed a number of other loose pages as well.
If you compare the back of my page to the back-scan of the incomplete/coverless copy that sold at auction last September, you can tell that my page originated from that copy.
(thumbs u Congrats on finding one. Maybe you should change your name to Tex Thompson?

All star 8. I figure it would be easier to track down another hulk in the future.

While talking about no respect from the fan world. I didnt see a SGT. Fury #1 Club...
You could always start one. I just started an ASM #1 club because I was stunned to learn that there wasn't one of those either...
EDIT: I just checked on the Sgt. Fury #1 club and there is one, it just fell to page #5 of the SA room. I'll bump it for you.
That's not a club, it's just a thread talking about a high grade up for auction.

does a 9.9 get an extra layer of scrutiny at cgc?
i.e. does the grader need to get approval at a different level when it comes to a high profile book of this nature? Or is it as long as the 3 graders agree on a 9.9 it gets that grade?
From what their cust service rep told me in general, the number is just based on the final graders opinion, he may take the other graders notes into account, but the last grader gets the final say.

no. but best of luck to the consignor.
I'm going to take a wild guess, but by looking at the scan,i'd say that it would come back no higher than a 9.8 if re-subbed,which no-one would ever do.But,i'm just saying...i've seen nicer looking 9.8's.
Pretty sure i thought the same thing when i saw the Cap 100's in 9.9,and Ironman #1 in 9.9..they looked weak.
Wouldn't this happen with 90% of 9.9s?

Michael hooked me up with a museum's worth of stuff from his Clooney thread. (thumbs u

I don't think the game would have any effect. I don't think mainstream game players will pick up difficult to find and pricey GA books.

Great story, Mac Man!
Any chance you can share those with us? (Page and panel number citations would be greatly appreciated!)Seems that this was one of his favorite Batman books and if I had it in front of me, I could tell you which panels he enjoyed doing most.Yeah, I'd love to hear more about what he said too, Forrest. Plus, you should get it down before you forget it!
+11111
I have to get a little work done on some course prep for next semester (teaching a new course, so that always chews up time). I do need to dig into my books and do a little rebagging so I'll pull the Batman 11 and see if I can point you to the pages and panels.
I'm also thinking about buying one of the DC archives that Dynamic Forces set up with Bob Kane to sign a few years before he died, and then see if it'd be possible to get Jerry Robinson's signature next to it. But... might be a little tricky to make that happen.
Its probably easier than you think.
And it looks like Mr. Robinson is going to be at the wizard con in the big apple in spring.

Superfast shipping and accurately described books!! Thanks Jake!

I chanced upon a thread where someone posted a slab signed by Stan Lee. It also seemed that Stan Lee had sketched a roach. Now, I know I heard bits and pieces about Stan Lee and roach but can someone tell me if Stan the Man really drew that roach?
he drew a spider that ended up looking more like a roach if I recall correctly.

I dunno how THIS got in my collection....oh right.
I had to kill someone.
The silver Janson signature is much deeper and presentable.
The flash on the camera just lit the thing right up though.
Nice! It looks like DD can't stand FM's sig!

Well there has hardly been a time when I've seen a more beautiful book.
Coming up in the next CC auction.
Simply jaw dropping.
It is beautiful. I'd be happy with a copy half that nice
There's one on ebay right now.

I said half as nice Rock, not a 1/16th as nice
Well, it does have better PQ than the 8.0
