Read "The Dark Tower" books, they're my favorite King novels. "The Gunslinger" can be tough to get through for some, but it's worth it.I loved when they made The Stand into a mini series. Absolutely LOVED it. Hadn't even read the book in those days. Went back many years later and read the book. Loved that too. Only King book I've ever read. It appeals to me because of the post apocalyptic story line.Looking back on it now, I wish they had done the mini series on one of the cable channels. Imagine how cool it would have been had it been done in a format similar to Band of Brothers. They could have fleshed out the books so much more and really given it the treatment it deserved.

Bringing closure to the original question raised by this thread: today I spoke with our consignment director Matt Griffin and company owner Buddy Saunders about the way that X-Men #96 was scanned. Both were embarrassed and dumbfounded that one of our employees would scan a comic that way. Matt reviewed the book and sees some creasing that he thinks may have been added in the scanning process, knocking the book down from an 8.5 to 8.0.
I'm not aware of anything like this happening prior to this item. To make sure it does not happen again, our updated policy for product images is that if something on the splash page or interior of a comic requires an image, only digital camera images will be used so that the cover doesn't have to be opened far to obtain the image. Absolutely no flatbed scans for interiors. Matt has reviewed the improper handling of the X-Men #96 and our updated policy for scanning with the appropriate employees.
I've pulled the auction, contacted the consignor, and we'll be buying it from him at a price he is happy with. We'll resell it as an 8.0.

Very cool, congrats!Today I added 2 of the most important books in my collectionwhen I was 10 years old there was a comic shop on the East Side of Houston called Happy Trails and it was my weekly stop anytime i had money or when i just wanted look at old books, since the owner sold SA and GA keys there was ALWAYS something to look at. for some reason or another, the Owner took pity on this Shy new to comics kid and instead of letting me get sucked up in 90s trends he taught me about collecting and how to handle books ..
well last week he contacted my boss and offer to sell the remaining and Most loved books( many he bought off the racks) to him and being the stand up guy my boss is he allowed me to purchase 2 of these books
I dont think any books have ever meant so much to me

Oak could be branching out
His name is Oakland and he only kills the homeless in his backyard!Well, of course we are a community but it's an internet community, not a community where we all know and see each other every morning like on a street in a suburb.
But in the real life community the serial killer is often described thus: "He kept to himself but he was always quiet and polite."
Hang on, you may be onto something. We have our very own bona fide serial killer here on the boards in the shape of Oakman. Why don't we set him on this doosh, Dexter style. Problem solved.
Well, I haven't seen Justin around these parts recently either.

I remember a 9.8 ASM 5 selling on Comic Link a few years ago for about $95K IIRC, not sure if this is the same one as I don't track the serial #'s either.Just saw this one in Pedigree Grand Auction starting Jan 8...wonder what this one will fetch as the only present 9.8 in existence?I'm always curious to know if these books are new books to the Census, and/or re-subs...I don't keep track of the serial numbers and how one might match up the grading dates with said serial numbers...there's a nice 13 in 9.4 OWW as well...

That ASM #136 is a beauty!
Yes, awesome cover. For some reason, I think yellow ASM are the best.
This ranks right up there.
I would only change the Goblin Glider. Looks smushed. Probably did it to save room.
I have to agree, the yellow covers are my favorites.
