  1. Enjoyed dealing with Dan: Very easy to work with, he shipped the book quickly and the box was very sturdy. Glad to have a key book locked down! Thanks!!
  2. I couldn't believe how tough this one was to find....
  3. Ha, classic example of "One man's junk..." as I've been looking for late newsstand FF's lately with almost no luck.
  4. How's this for a Sinister pickup..... Here's a group pic of most of my graded SA ASM's. All 8.5's except the Annual.
  5. Just as a follow-up, the buyer was telling me how anxious he is to read them again, so might not have been a movie hype purchase. I've got the Son o' Satan Marvel Spotlight run up as well, but haven't had any nibbles. Admittedly, I priced it pretty aggressively.
  6. Huh, well that's interesting. Seems really bizarre for a publisher to completely drop a long-running title from newsstand distribution like that (even if it was set for cancellation), but I've never actively hunted for NS Batgirls. Guess that'll be the one new thing I learn for the day.
  7. DC didn't stop newsstand distribution until just the last few years, so that title should've run to its conclusion in both versions, although a quick look for the last few issues on the Bay shows that it would probably be a challenging run to complete in newsstands (didn't see anything for 70-73). That reminds me, I have a CGC 9.4 Batgirl 12 (the Steph series) newsstand. Not sure if I have an image of it or not.
  8. 41 seems to be less common with White Pages for some reason. My 8.5 is Ow-W, which diminishes it only slightly in my eyes, but I've had an eye out for White Pagers and they don't seem to pop up very often in any grade. By comparison, 39 seems to be relatively easy to find White. Just my experience from a year or so of looking at SA Spideys. The vets may have a different experience
  9. I thought it was just me. 9.0 and 9.2 I'll generally just skip straight past. They're just weird to me, I can't explain it. I'd rather just hold out for a 9.4, I guess. If 9.4 is a nosebleed price (say, for SA stuff), then I'll happily take the drop down to a nice 8.5.
  10. Nice, i don't have either of those, nor did I even have an entry for the DCU variant on my spreadsheet. Trying to do all the regular/deluxe/newsstand/DCU/reprint variants in the late 400's and through the 500's is a real challenge.
  11. Yeah, I used to have the ONLY Canadian Batman 400 graded and it was a 9.8. Stayed that way for a few years, then I checked the census a few months back and found another had been added and it was also a 9.8. It's a bit deflating, but still one of my favorite books in my collection. Speaking of Bats.....
  12. Anything happening in the Son of Satan series? I've had my set up for a few months with not much activity, got on offer on it this morning and before I even saw it a different buyer bought it outright.
  13. This one has been unusually tough for me to locate. You'd think an anniversary would be super-easy, but that's not been my experience.
  14. Just some quick scans of some of my better ones. The DD 111 and Wolverine 66 were both from the Doc Collection (managed to get the complete Lady Bullseye arc from it, tried for the Old Man Logan, but only managed to get Part 1)....
  15. This seems to me similar to Alan Moore's stance as a comic writer.... I think both artists strive for something more and want to see their respective media pushed to the limits, to be challenging for the audience and creators, etc. etc. The thing is, not every artist or viewer can reach this transcendent state or even wants to. I don't disagree with the idea that these movies are akin to theme park rides, but that's their point and that's the audience they're trying to bring in. There's something comforting about being able to escape life and turn your brain off for millions of people. Trite, but well-done, entertainment is important in society.
  16. Odd, I've generally found their prices much closer to "fair" market value than most other dealers (assuming you're looking at the prices on their site and not through the Bay). But, yeah, they're a solid, reputable dealer and I'm sure they would take care of returns. They run a very large business beyond the comics, so it's not just one guy who's going to try to stiff you on a return because he can't afford to take the loss.
  17. More to the topic of the thread, an ASM 694 came up tonight on the 'Bay and just cleared $100. Seller had a few other very late ASM newsstands in other lots which I grabbed for my run, but didn't need the 694, so just put in a half-hearted bid in case it didn't go very high.
