A preface on the comics still to come: The quality of the run holds up for another 16 issues, then takes a dip. The #34 is an 8.5. You won't see its equal until the mid-teens. I could speculate on why - there aren't similar lulls in the Eerie or Vampirella runs - but it's unfortunate that several of the early keys don't approach the NM range.
Creepy 49. 9.0 VF/NM OW. A rather unique Sanjulian cover. Light wear top edge of the squarebound. Maroto, Reed Crandall interior art. $75 SOLD to jr70

Creepy 54. 8.5 VF+. Bill DuBay cover. Superb black cover, but -- and, once again, it's odd to apologize when a 1973 book has a flaw -- bump at the bottom of the spine. Richard Corben interior art and a Phil Seuling guest editorial, describing his arrest for selling "indecent material to a minor." $35

Creepy 55. 8.0 VF OW. Cover artist? Everyone in sight. A surreal black cover, exquisite except for the faint crease at the top right corner of the front cover and a light impact crease at the same corner 'round back. Gray Morrow, Johnny Craig, Al Williamson, Wally Wood original art. $30 SOLD to jr70

Creepy 57. 8.5 VF+ OW. Another stunning Sanjulian cover. Richard Corben interior art. Light stress lines at spine. Nicks at the bottom of the front and back covers which, given that they are perfectly aligned, strike me as a printing defect. Faint crease bottom right back cover. Light crease top spine. $40

Creepy 46. 9.2 NM- OW/W. Sanjulian cover. Ken Kelly was the most prolific Warren cover artist, Frazetta the most renown. But when you actually have all the comics in hand, no artist has quite the impact as Sanjulian. Tiny flaws and the nick at the spine leave me on the fence as to whether this stunning black cover rates a 9.2 or a 9.4. Richard Corben, Tom Sutton, Esteban Maroto original art. $150 SOLD to jr70
