  1. This morning, the ebay ad for the 8.0 #24 said there were 25 days left and now it says it has ended.....one of you the lucky buyer?
  2. Not quite as good as your 22 8.5 and 23 8.5 but it has nice pages and is still available. Surprised someone here didn't pluck this one at only 1 1/2 XPG http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=350418809468&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT
  3. Here's 24... please remember, this is a huge scan. I never claimed it was a 10 Click here to see larger scan of front Click here to see a larger scan of the back cover
  4. Yeah! I might even submit mine if you could guarantee I'd get the same grader, my 22 would get an 8.0 or even much higher. Rich would have himself a 9.2 Bet the morning coffee was extra special that day.
  5. That's the nicest thing I've heard. The 24 would top the charts(by far) but certainly not the 22 and the 23 has a pencil eraser sized hole(3mm) in the back cover plus spine stress. I guess it's about a 7.0 maybe 8.0 if it didn't have the hole; - and I looked at it again and maybe the pages of 23 would still rank CR/OW so I don't know what that makes the 22 with lesser page quality, lt.tan/OW? Those 22's you display are a knockout!! White page ones are rare, rare, rare Just curious, your scan on page 96 shows the CGC # scratched out. ?
  6. I think your copy is as good as the Keller and would come back a 9.0 but it will depend on what the folks had for lunch, I'm afraid. What they're accentuating/ focusing on at the time. Just after coffee, I'm sure his spine corners, or should I say, the lack of spine corners, would have been noticed. PQ on my 22 is CR/OW at best, I'm afraid. But for some reason, the 23 is much better and 24 looks white by comparison to the other two. Being the proud owner, maybe I am a little jaded, but for Green Lantern, isn't that the right colour to be?
  7. Thanks for the 7.5 Isn't that like a 9.0 from a non-hater? I will admit there are some better and worse Mohawks out there and it sounds like you met a few of the worst. And you're right about the 'White' page aspect of collecting...they're not in the ball park. On a lighter side, you may want to write X-Files about your "early 90's" experience with Mohawks since they were first brought to market by Sothebys in 1995.
  8. Thanks! Maybe I will one day. They sure look sweet sans CGC plastic. I appreciated your comment about having seen CGC 9.6s with sun shadows and less than O/W pages. CGC seems to shift emphasis from time to time, even though it's only been 10 years. I've owned these for 15. I'm crossing my fingers that the next big shift will be towards alignment. Don't get me wrong, I wish they were white pages, too, but I've seen way worse sun shadows. The 22 looks way sweeter in person.
  9. Thanks! No plans to get it graded, costs too much, no plans to sell, and I hate the thought of breaking up my Mohawk set even for a few weeks. The 24 is a beauty! with even less tanning and much better page quality. Don't know why but there seems to be lesser paper quality used in just issue 22. Tim once said on this thread that he's seen CGC 9.6s with tanning so you never know what those guys are going to throw your way.....I love the sharp corners even with the slight wear...the Gary Keller copy is missing corner bits especially top and bottom spine. Maybe I should rip bits off the corners and get rid of the wear that way and get a 9.0 And while I'm picking on that copy, it has a stamp on the back cover.
  10. Here's my Showcase 22 as promised- sorry some of you don't like Mohawk Valley, personally I love the bright colors. Prefer a little tanning to a lot of wear... and it's still a pedigree, even if you think it's the worst. It has history. Below each scan, is a link to an even larger scan. When you click on this, the scan should open in a new window. You may have to click on this scan once it's loaded to view it full size as your browser might fit it to screen,(or so my computer savvy wife says). 11. Mohawk Valley. Maybe soon, neighbour. 23 & 24 also, if that's OK(?) I thought about posting them on 'Please Grade My..." but I think a few of you guys would be more interested and just as capable. Frankly, I'm trying to develop a thick skin before I show my 'babies' who are 15 now: where did the time go? I know opinions on grading can be night and day. Ryan, thanks for starting this thread. Lots of fun and info reading. And thanks to Rich for his tremendous work here and obvious love of 22.
  12. Showcase #22 Beautiful CANVAS artwork 12"x18" http://cgi.ebay.com/Showcase-22-Beautiful-CANVAS-artwork-12-x18-/300492149665?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item45f6ba53a1 Anyone ordered one of these? Wondering if the colours are fairly bright. Disclosure: I'm not affiliated with Cedar Chest Comics in any way, but I did buy a reading copy of JIM 89 from them a few years back. Good service and graded accurately which was a treat for an ebayer seller. Also, I have yet to scan my copy of Showcase 22 and submit it here, so I'm a member in hiding. It's a high grade pedigree copy but not CGC'd. Any pedigree members here? (I don't mean "from the collection of...".
