  1. That is ridiculous. There are many many examples of this happening and the seller being informed and the situation being corrected. And yet...... If the price is right the rules are forgotten. (thumbs u Err, that's kind of a Catch 22 perception when you think about it. I mean, if no one "forgot" the rules we would have no PL/HOS list in the first place. Seen it many times and I have to agree - you will get stepped on as you're posting the rules. That X-men was gone quick. Stepped on or threatened... take your pick I've posted the rules tons of times, never had a problem...unless you count occasionally some new or dumb person making a comment about "board police" a problem. I just ignore those because they are not worth my time and most probably shills anyway. I agree with Pov, if someone threatens anyone for posting the rules, their posts should be posted here and we should spank them. (the person not the rules) ... anyone will be allowed to do this but me I assume

  3. I don't ignore this point, as it is valid. Killing the goose that laid the golden egg would be the worst of all possible worlds. I just got here and I really don't wish to see it go I can't read what you're saying until you get to 100 posts
  4. And just to throw this out there... lets say a 100 post rule to sell does eventually come into effect. This won't stop a potential (greedy or otherwise) buyer from PMing the new seller. If that buyer gets hosed behind the scenes and the new seller hasn't fulfilled the requirements to sell here... does that mean the buyer has no recourse? No recourse as in caveat emptor ? I mean I want no boardie to be shafted... but if you are warned how to prevent a shaft, given a way to avoid the shaft and you still take the shaft out on a trial date... and then the shaft ties you up and has its way with you... weren't you really just asking for the shaft? Would the buyer not equally be considered breaking a buyer/seller rule set forth by the boards? Would we throw rocks and beanie babies at him/her as well? This could turn into a Lord of the Flies situation of Biblical proportions Or not.
  5. Hey look. An X-Men 94 being sold by a newbie in 9.4 condition for $500.
  6. A 100 post minimum sounds great. Now just keep all the BUYERS here from throwing a take it sign in anyone's thread who has less than 100 posts. Seems easy till the greed kicks in
  7. I'm wondering if all new members wonder why we spell "Welcome" wrong? Re: WECOME TO THE BOARDS! New members, please introduce yourselves here!
  8. Like the direction Singer appears to be going and have high hopes. Regardless of individual opinion on how close the movie adheres to the source material... I'm still just happy that this much effort is being put into the Marvel Universe in relation to its characters, especially after the early 90's attempts at Punisher, FF and Cap. Concerning Watchman... loved the movie... but would love to see a "behind the scenes" filmed about it from the perspective of the creators. Seeing a young Val Kilmer play Alan Moore in Oliver Stone's version of what happened would be a dream come true
  9. Yep, they can charge whatever they want. And I and others can kvetch about it here in the General Discussion thread, and skip those sales threads. Don't get me wrong Speedy... I don't like it either I'm just not going to let it limit me from getting a book that I want just because someone priced a book at $100 plus 3% instead of $103.
  10. Seller is allowed to charge any surcharge they see fit I'd say As long as its upfront and visible, it still has to be considered legit and within the confines of the rules. It may bother some... but hey... unfortunately surcharges are a part of the Brave New World of sales everywhere. Besides... why is everyone's worrying about a lowly 3% surcharge on a book priced at 12.75% above recent GPA On books like these... you can pay the price listed, or don't
  11. Looks like you did fine Tracee. The separate PM will act as his notification of the issue being brought here. Now give the guy person 72 hours to respond. Nice to see someone use the system the way it should be used. Good luck sir madam ! xxx ooo Rupp
  12. Repeated purchases from Michael B.... and always quick service and well packaged merch. Can't recommend him enough and look forward to giving him more cash xxx ooo Rupp
  13. Rick only asks you three questions to get entry into the prison during the Zombie Apocalypse... ten questions seems a bit high
  14. I wonder if the mods could set up new admissions/sign ups to the boards with an immediate wrist slap. This would keep them from posting for two days... plus newbies could be encouraged by management to take that 48 hour waiting period to read up on the rules. Provide them clear links and a helping hand, etc. Not much help ... but a slight obstacle for the devious n00bs to have to maneuver through to sell here.
  15. I just hope Best In Comics doesn't open a new sales thread for each and every grail they have
  16. Rupp's GRUNT FACTORY GOLD NUGGETS & SLICK SILVER SALE http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=7114280#Post7114280 Highlights include...
  17. Tis true that Best in Comics did come out swinging with a huge key... and I know those guys are legit. Problem is... its really not fair to make one person have to have 100 posts to sell here and then not enforce that rule on the other new seller here. Plus a lot of new sellers come here to move product fast... then come back to get to know people. Would hate to lose the opportunity to buy cool swag because they couldn't wait the two weeks or so to build up 100 eligible posts. That said, what would be considered 100 eligible posts anyway? Who would keep up with this? Plus no matter how big one's post count is... the newbie could just PM offers to anyone who appears to be a player here on the boards... or hit up the WTB section. Post count isn't going to stop newbie sales... maybe public ones, but not private. Jking3437 hit it on the nose... people that buy here are going to see the scam. If someone gets burned on a newbie sale, its their own fault that they let the greed blind them into making a poor decision.
  18. I would guess that the majority of titles listed by Gerber scarcity have decreased in rarity by one or two levels since Gerber's original publication date. One example for me would be Warrior Comics # 1 published in 1945 by HC Blackerby. Gerber states scarcity at a 8 rare (11 - 20 copies exist). CGC census states 22 graded copies (of which one of the midgrade copies sets right here on my desk). Ebay has one of those slabbed copies for sale right now... plus one raw copy for sale. A internet search pulled the following info from a Heritage sale which had 6 raws available ( Warrior Comics #1 Group (HC Blackerby, 1945) Condition: Average GD/VG. Includes six copies of #1. Only - Available at Sunday Internet Comics Auction #121136 ). That's almost 30 copies available (or in known existence) right there...bringing it down in scarcity one level from the 20+ year old Gerber information. That being said... levels 7 - 11 are going to be the levels most likely to be affected by the 20 year time span and growth of copies available.
  19. The Gerber data is going on 25 years old now as well... at least based on the copyright date in my Photo Journals. A lot of copies could have came out of the woodwork in that amount of time. Great discussion candidate for sure xxx ooo Rupp
