Many years ago, I inherited a bunch of comics from my uncle who passed away suddenly in 2003. He was a huge comic book collector throughout the 80's and 90's, and of course went to many conventions. Growing up he had a "storage" room at my grandma's house for all his "extra" stuff, which was filled from floor to ceiling with comics and comic related collectables. I loved going in that room. Eventually he moved and brought his collection with him, but kept a lot of it in storage lots, and the more valuable items at his home.
When he passed, my Mom had to settle his affairs, and took on the task of just storing his collection off site. We had a spare room, so it wasn't that bad. She wanted nothing to do with the comics and just gave it to me and my brother. My brother eventually wanted nothing to do with it, so it fell on me. The collection that was left over was mostly comics and some personal collectables he loved, nothing valuable though, as a lot of the valuable items he had were sold off to pay rent (from what i remember).
We had around 65,000 - 75,000 comics or so. The task i wanted to tackle one day was to go through the collection and catalog/price each comic so we can get some value out of it. after doing a few hundred, i gave up, and the majority of items were not worth "selling" outside of a bulk sale. They were pennies, and some of the "free" comics they hand out at conventions. I went through the collection a few times before selling it off in a bulk sale around 6 years ago.
Not to say that there wasn't anything interesting or good, but 98% of it was not. I kept what i thought was valuable, a few sealed items (the new mutants 98 here) and a box of signed comics.
Inside that box of signed comics were these 3 comics of Harley Quinn: Mad love, signed by Paul Dini and Bruce Timm. They are the first prints, and my guess is that he got these signatures at a convention. There is no Certificate for them, sadly. I looked up the comic on eBay and found various copies, including signed, but only "either" Paul Dini or Bruce Timm, not both.
The New mutants 98 i know is pretty valuable alone. My copy is in really great condition, but not sure "how" good.
My questions are about submitting these comics to be graded. What category would i submit the harley quinn comics? Just regular comics to be graded under unlimited value? Do i become a member to submit these valuable comics for better deals? How would i know if i need pressing, if they are in pretty great condition already? The Q&A of pressing is kind of vague on what to look out for on good condition comics (mostly says tears, bends, but I'm not a collector so i don't know what to look out for).
