  1. Just like with Captain America in ST 114. Yes exactly. ST 114 with Acrobat disguised as Captain America hardly makes people look at it as a first silver age appearance. VS Avengers 4 there is no comparison. Though in this case the imposter is a heretofore unknown character, in Av 83; I predict the Hulk book will take off more. Also factor in the quality of the Hulk cover, compared to the Av 83.
  2. Why wouldn't it have been sold to the second highest bidder? Unless first and second were both phony? I see now was BIN. Never mind. Yea someone made a mistake and the wised up.
  3. Agreed, kind of interesting as a kid, but nothing will "Happen" with Champions. If the Defenders get no respect, there is no way the Champions will with a 15 issue series.
  4. The thing that has always bothered me about the cover is this - how the heck is he going to hit CM from that position? Hammerfist, dude. Yep, he'd drive Marvel down like a railroad spike.
  5. Something is weird here. Clearly like 5ish max. YOu should contact cgc direct and alert them of the error.
  6. The Rock is the man. He could probably have his own movie, and just be "The Rock". Don't be dissen the Rock.
  7. I'm no huge Smith fan by any means, but that is a ridiculous thing to say. He's one of the most important comic artists in the history of the medium. He was 23 years old (or younger) when he drew that Avengers #100 cover, and has, like most artists, improved greatly over the decades. Well ok. I still think I'm right on though.
  8. He has a unique style for sure. Take a good look at the Avengers 100 cover. It ain't workin' there, the legs and lines on the characters are all screwed up, it really looks bad. Sorry to hear he's a jerk, he's not nearly good enough to get away with it.
  9. scraps of bubble wrap from shipping, with extra cardboard spacer or two. Works great just shove it in until it's firm.
  10. My favorite character as a kid. Possibly the best bronze book there was. My several copies and a repro that artboy did for me.
  11. Who to blame, Ebay or the scammer? And thine scum shall consume thyself. Through the wrath of the LORD of hosts is the land darkened, and the people shall be as the fuel of the fire: no man shall spare his brother. And he shall snatch on the right hand, and be hungry; and he shall eat on the left hand, and they shall not be satisfied: they shall eat every man the flesh of his own arm. -- Isaiah 9:19-20
  12. Caldor I think the Minnesota equivalent was Alco, Shopko, or Pamida ,,earlier maybe Gibsons and woolworths. Most of which are all gone. I can remember buying some 3 packs at the local Ben Franklin, toy dept.
  13. Paid right away for the book he bought from me. No problems at all.
  14. Need to add Akiyama. Bought some spider-man books from me about 40 days ago. Got shipping cost set and it came time to pay then nothing from him. Sent PM after 10 days which he read but no response. Sent final PM week ago, unread by him. Was not a very big amount of money, only about $60-$70.
  15. Quite rare from what I've seen. Not one book I bought off the rack or in a multi pack in the 70's had a double cover. Of all the books I've bought and been given, and I must have about 12K-15k, I have 2 double covers that I can think of. I have Space 1999 with a double, and a ASM 127 Triple covers or more, never even seen one. I have heard of triple covers though.
  16. yer all lucky bongo is very active bidding on auctions. It's helping your selling price, even in auctions he doesn't win. Sounds as if he pays, I wouldn't be too quick to bite him.
  17. much ado about a man named stu liked by few and hated by others through 'n' through but too, a person many never knew as the conflict ensued our apathy grew BEEF STEW
  18. Kind of seems like the honey is a misnomer, and they are really going after the larvae. Seems like they are hard wired to kill, but I didn't know they would kill more than they could eat at the same time. Crazed butchers. Could be quite handy killing machines though, parts of TX have way too many rattlers. Maybe you could turn loose a dozen sterile honey badgers and let them thin em out. Same thing with the everglades, they're being over run with iguanas and pythons that aren't even supposed to be there. Maybe the Honey Badger would favor them over the natural critters.
  19. I think yer right. It does look photoshop. They should've just used real honey badger teeth. Also looks like they puffed up the legs. The real teeth look meaner I think. Pic from National Geographic:
