  1. Tony, this is really great info!

I did a little digging around and found this scanner on Amazon:

Epson GT-20000 Wide Format Document Scanner

It was originally $1500 like you said but it's marked down to $1081 on Amazon with free shipping. It's a CCD scanner and it scans pages as large as 11.7" x 17". Pretty decent reviews too. Definitely a lot more than I was planning on spending but it may be a worthwhile investment if I ever plan on scanning some of my OA in addition to any slabs.

    What do you think?

  2. I've said this before, but I found a very reliable legal size scanner at a local Goodwill / Thrift shop just over a year ago.

Actually I found 2... both identical although one was used and the other, new in the box. For the both of them, I think I paid under $15.00.

Microtek ScanMaker E3 Plus (Parallel Port Interface)

    And a sample...

I used to have a Microtek ScanMaker X12USL which I absolutely loved. The problem was that I upgraded to windows Vista and the scanner was no longer compatible. I emailed the company a few times with no response for two weeks. When they finally e-mailed me back, all they told me was that they would not be creating new drivers to support the scanner.

I asked if there were any alternatives and they told me to go back to using Windows XP. :tonofbricks:

I vowed never to use another Microtek scanner.

  3. Anyone try the Xerox DocuMate 515 Flatbed Fast Simplex ADF ColorScanner? I'm looking for a new scanner that can scan slabs with a budget of <$200. I found this one on Amazon:

    Link

It looks a little big and seems to have more bells and whistles than I need, but it's 58% off! The reviews on this one are somewhat mixed but it'd be helpful if anyone had experience using this or any other similar Xerox scanner.

  4. Haven't been on these boards for a few months, but it's always fun to check in once in a while. Nice to see this thread is still somewhat alive! That Thor with the 7 covers is pretty awesome! Hope you guys are doing well! :)

:hi: Hey Charles it's been a while how is it going, added any new ASM Double Covers to your collection lately? :gossip:

Hi Terry, no I haven't. Not sure what happened, but I kinda just drifted away from actively buying/selling. It probably had to do with the fact that I bought my apt about two years ago so I pretty much am missing some disposable income that I had before. I'm sure your collection is 10x the size of mine if not bigger now.

Hey BUTM! How's it going? I see you're still pretty active in this market!

  5. :) It's been a while since I updated my My ASM Double Cover Page and I was way behind. I have added a bunch of Key & just Cool Amazing Spider-Man issues to my Collection since my last update so Check it out here: ASM Double Cover Page

:gossip: Can anyone help me fill in some of those empty spaces? :baiting:

 Here is one of my recent additions. :cloud9:

Wow, VERY nice. This beats the 9.2 I have! I didn't realize there was another one there! I've been out of the market so long, I'm getting left behind!

  6. lol, that's hilarious. No, I didn't get anything. I bid on some of the ASMs but lost out pretty handily.

I would have bid on more things, but I've been in the process of buying my first place for the past two years. I'm finally closing at the end of this month so I'll have a better idea of what funds I have to work with, which I can't imagine will be much. I may even need to sell some more stuff to improve my cash flows.

I haven't picked up anything for a few months now but double cover collecting kinda feels like golf without Tiger Woods now, lol. Any idea why he decided to sell? Like the real reason? I haven't talked to him for a while, but I did get that e-mail that he sent to everyone else.

  7. Kudos to DoubleCovaBrotha , thank you Charles for a great, friendly transaction. I love the archives, thanks for packing them well, mailing them swiftly and just being a generally great person to deal with ! (worship)

Thanks Sharon...as always you are a gracious person and a pleasure to deal with. Enjoy the books!

  8. Wow, another double cover mislabeled (should say 9.4, not 9.2). CGC needs to stay on top of that.

They could be grading it on the merits of the entire book and not just the covers. I know that the other double covers that were "mislabeled" had other issues/defects that caused a lower grade.

  9. Just snagged this off eBay...

I love these double cover books numbered #222. A special thanks goes out to Terry (cosmic-spider-man) for helping me out with this one. (thumbs u I owe ya, buddy!

This book goes great with a Thor #222 that's already in my collection. And this one is a 20 cent cover to boot!

  10. Been a little while since I posted on the boards, here are a couple of new ones I snagged. Some for cheap, some for not so cheap. I also sent two off two ASMs to be signed by Stan Lee and to be CGC'd so I'll probably get those back in two or three months.

    B&B #106...not so cheap.

  11. Hey guys,

I once had a Spider-Man # 298 (first McFarlane art, I think), that I bought of the newsstands with a double cover.

Any idea what that would be worth now, say in 9.2 shape ??

I don't have it anymore, just curious what a market value would be on that issues.

    Thanks.

I know I'd pay at least $100 for it. Terry would probably pay a nice chunk of change for it too.

 I would if I didn't already have a nice ASM #298 Double Cover I posted it in this thread somewhere. :baiting:

    SHOWOFF!
