Did you see the ASM #98 double cover on eBay now?
Yeah, I doubt it will sell for that price. Even if it does, there a several more on the market. I would pay maybe up to 5% premium over the regular version in the same grade for that issue.
A 9.6 just ended on eBay without meeting reserve. The buyer bought it from Vault auctions and attempted to flip it. For some reason, that issue is somewhat common (as in more than 5 known copies) in double cover. I have one with a pence cover and am biding my time to get a copy in 9.4 or higher.

Kinda wish I'd seen this before the auction ended. I would have been very tempted.
FF #112 CGC 9.0 Double Cover $227
I considered bidding on this auction...but then my funds got tied up when I unexpectedly won this:

I wasn't even expecting to win this one, I just had a snipe set on it and I didn't notice it until a couple days later.

Haven't been around for a while, but I had to pop in and give kudos to Nikos61 for quick shipping and a hassle free transaction. Thanks!

I called at the time and asked them.
They said it had staining on the inside, which made the max grade 4.5.
Even if one of the covers had been 9.4, they would have given it a 4.5 overall grade.
This means that the covers do not determine the entire grade? Very interesting...
Thanks for the reply...you should post more often. I don't think anybody from Heritage is a regular around here.

WOW. That one looks absolutely awesome. Is it really that nice up close? It looks like the cover is at least a 9.4.
The pages are white and the corners will cut you if you aren't careful. Minimum 9.6 on the inner cover.
You're not kidding. Great pickup!

I have never seen something like this before...it looks like CGC gave the average of the two grades? Weird. Anyone else see anything like this?

These just arrived from eBay, both are double covers. I got a real bargain on both :
This one was in better condition than expected. The inside cover is at least 8.0.
This one was very accurately graded at 9.0, probably an outside shot for 9.2. Only a little bit of wear on the URC that goes to both covers. Was expecting this to cost WAY more. Only cost me $30 and shipping.

Kudos to r1970d (Roy) for quickly shipping my ASM 121. Grading is spot on, definitely a 9.4

I was seriously thinking about bidding on this. I've wanted a Showcase #43 since I first started collecting and this one is a double cover.
But the bid went a bit high and I forgot to watch the end of the auction.

Oh yeah, I knew I had no shot once I saw that this guy put in THREE bids that no one had overbid yet. I am the underbidder there, but I didn't even touch the smallest of his three bids. If I wasn't trying to get a double cover ASM right now, I would have laid out maybe $300 for that book (but I still don't think that would have been enough).

Ah..that's a lot more obvious now. So is the crease on the URC. Tank yew.
-
Very nice. That first cover doesn't look like a 6.5...what are the major defects?
There's a 2 " crease on the FC that just slightly breaks color.
Look to the right of Hangman's left bracelet....
Thought that was just some glare from scanning through the CGC case...

Kudos to DoubleCovaBrotha for the VERY affordable Avengers #54! And he mailed it during a snowstorm! Who says we don't go that extra mile (in five feet of snow...uphill...both ways...) for our fellow forumites?
It wasn't *THAT* bad.

Kudos to tillycs for paying quickly. Book was shipped out today, thanks!

Fantastic, nice post!
What happened to the top edge though?
-
Kudos to Blazingbob for a pretty decent looking ASM #6 that I purchased from his website!

I got a great Double Cover CGC 9.8 ASM 267 from Rocketeer on eBay. Looks great, thanks!!
-
Oh well...I took a shot. My $375 snipe was apparently short of whatever cosmic-spider-man bid. I shudder to even think about what his bid was.
-
woot! i'm glad you got them!
woot! i'm glad you sent them! How's the moving going, btw?

Kudos goes out to CompleteRunComics as I have received my first shipment of books from them. The thing about this service that I love the most is this awesome customer service. (The second is the 30% discount and cheap shipping. ) Chad returns e-mails in less than 24 hours and is always friendly in his replies.
Kudos also go out to Stynxno for shipping out that really large box of readers for me. Great transactions with both these guys.

Kudos to MHchuck for a beautiful double cover MTU booK!
Kudos to Rickdogg for winning my book! NEGATIVE ONE KUDOS for not leaving me feedback on eBay. Now you are at a net zero kudos from me!!! Bwahahaha!!!
-
Super kudos to Shiverbones (Matt) for a beautiful double cover Forbidden Tales of Dark Mansion #7. He is a great guy who is amazingly considerate of other forum members. Thanks again Matt!

I rub some people the wrong way, it seems
Does that mean you rub other people the right way?
Sorry, that was a huge opening...I had to take it.

Sure, just PM me with an offer for either or both. The DD is really nice, so I will need a really good offer for that one. I am a little more flexible with the X-Men 115 though.
