    I have become a haunted man. But only days remain. What on earth can I do?

    In a few days, Purnabha, Lucina and I will visit the Himalayas around Darjeeling. It is a place I have yearned to see for decades. But all the while I am there I will be unable to stop thinking about Zeenat and Nikat.

    In March, their mother died suddenly of heart disease. At 11 years of age, tiny Nikat cooks, cleans, cares for her sister, tries to maintain her schooling, and thankfully, her connection to Roshni. She has the careworn look of an adult and rarely smiles.

    I will repeat what I posted at the time: Zeenat suffered from polio as a child, leaving her handicapped and frail. More recently she contracted TB, and almost died.
