  1. There is a very determined battle going on between two bidders here! Currently approaching 6k territory - I wonder where it will end up?
  2. You sure the Doc wasn't a dentist? Hmm, "Savage Dentist Comics" has a certain ring to it.
  3. Coming out is always difficult. I had a thing for the milkman once. beerbohm is more credible than this. Actually, I have a thing for lawyers. The milkman was just cover.

  6. That is probably my favorite Atlas set Bill. Congrats!!! Wonderful books for reading and just charming art to boot. (thumbs u A great gift to yourself!Could you show a few interiors as you read, with sugar on top? Yes please, I would love to see the art and such. Even low grade they are not cheap. I thought of getting the masterworks ed. I love medieval tales. What are you waiting for? The Masterworks are great for Atlas stuff. I agree - I have them all. Now if I could just bring myself to unwrap them.
  7. No love for my funky book "love" isn't strong enough to describe my affinity for the book. it is one of my fave books in the gold forum. Because of the way you see the world
  8. No love for my funky book It isn't that. We all love it.
  9. That one is better colored, but you are right, it isn't the intended intensity. BUT it has 3 extra staples going for it I can see them! But only 'cos I just fell on my head!
  10. Yes, just one low grade copy with deep colors - I didn't keep a scan but seem to recall there is also more nuance in color variation when the full palette is present - not just in the reds but the purples as well. But having said that, this is one of the FH covers where one doesn't feel the loss - your copy is beautiful.
  11. I did start going through this thread from the beginning!! Its like you're in my mind!!! All is lost. There is no hope for you Through me you pass into the city of woe: Through me you pass into eternal pain: All hope abandon ye who enter here.
  12. I find this stanza particularly haunting. Frail deeds indeed! Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay, Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
  13. Will this make any sense? - I'll post it anyway, as it is where my thoughts lead me, and you are free to ignore it! For we act to preserve, against the dying of the light. And comics are more than just comics, at least to me. Do not go gentle into that good night, Old age should burn and rage at close of day; Rage, rage against the dying of the light. Though wise men at their end know dark is right, Because their words had forked no lightning they Do not go gentle into that good night. Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay, Rage, rage against the dying of the light. Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight, And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way, Do not go gentle into that good night. Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay, Rage, rage against the dying of the light. And you, my father, there on the sad height, Curse, bless me now with your fierce tears, I pray. Do not go gentle into that good night. Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
  14. I'm sure many of our respected colleagues can immediately relate to this well phrased statement. Which gives me an idea...
  15. I've had super books I delighted in "raw", convinced they were high grade, only for CGC in their wisdom to hammer them. To whit: But anyone who really knows will appreciate that a book like your Strange tales #12 in 7.0 is a high grade book, especially for an early '50's title, where the production values were so inferior - in the main - to a decade earlier. Heck, finding a copy in any grade is something of a coup! Think of me when you upgrade any Atlas horror.
