  1. I'm no chemist and don't wish to appear pedantic, but shouldn't he have written salicylic acid?
  2. My goodness, Michael! Very nice! Thanks Walter. One of the tougher issues I think and I don't recall seeing one in high grade. The main thing for me is the bright colors.
  3. Awesome copy, Michael! Never seen this one for sale, so, yeah, I'd say it's fairly scarce SUPER awesome copy, very tough. I have never seen a copy in person, but have seen only one for sale and it was G at best. This issue is on my top 10 most wanted Jungle Comics. Great find Ps. That Planet 2 is super cool too Thanks guys - scan is just slightly cropped so not quite that sharp but nice paper! I confess, this cover flew well beneath my radar until I came across this copy, and it struck me that it was one of the very few I'd never seen before - to the best of my recollection. I wonder what happened to Fiction House in these months to make their titles apparently low distrib for a couple of months?
  4. It was impressive raw, and it's even more impressive slabbed. Congratulations, Michael. Thanks Jay! Did you complete these?
  5. CSS #22 is a great book, but my guess is that the Venus #19 is scarcer.
  6. 19 is way better than #17 though! I say 10k plus! Oh, I would think so.
  7. Well, the #17 8.5 went for over 10k, but this #19 is bettered by the 9.0...
  8. This one ain't high, but it is the same month as Planet #14 and Jumbo #31, so likely to be fairly scarce. Any other copies out there?
  9. Another one that aint easy - very poorly represented on the census.
  10. Love it! Pretty sure I have a copy somewhere. Another great cover by the under-rated Hartley. I do so wish his interior work had the same flair as some of his covers but it ain't so. Nevertheless, he left some gems of covers of which this one is. There are some great winter sports romance covers as I recall. I share your admiration for Hartley Michäel. I have dim memories of one or two horror stories he did for Atlas where he did live up to his talent - but it was long ago and cant remember the issues.
  11. Any one of them would be a major coup but the three together are stunning.
  12. wonderful question... the 5 I have the most demand for are: Captain america 1 Great 3 MMC 46 (green worm ear) Real Life 3 Daredevil Battles Hitler again, those are not my 5 fav or even the 5 "best" , but those are the 5 comics I am most asked for at shows, etc, that feature hitler on cover Are your five faves also the five "best"? (Not a trick question!) nope...these are my 5 fav great 3 real life 3 captain marvel jr 10 MMC 46 superman 17 It's all a question of taste. Just wondering, has anyone here ever done a comprehensive list of Hitler/Tojo covers?
  13. Michaël, you have the memory of an elephant. Hmmm, female vampire cover?
  14. Gobsmackingly wonderful! How long has it taken you to assemble such a fabulous collection?

  16. We are so used to seeing St John romance in mid-grades and many never in high grades. So we pay high grade prices for mid-grade books in this niche, and sometimes cant quite figure out how to put a true value on the rare high grade copy. So they can fluctuate wildly. as I am sure most knows, this same principle can be applied across virtually the entire golden age, especially the smaller publishers (thumbs u Good point
