  1. You mean that she's not the Red Witch of Ubangi-Shan? It's a long long time since I had a raw copy, but I recall being very disappointed that the contents didnt live up to the promise of the cover.
  2. I LOVE that cover. I know - it's great isnt it - and for some reason a really tough issue. Why is that so often the case with the best covers? Maybe it prompted kids to hang the covers on their walls. Or read 'em to death - I would've done.
  3. Recent purchase - not high grade by any means, but a tough one.

  5. Sold off all of my Jumbos and Jungles some years back, but couldn't resist reacquiring this one for the great cover colours! One of my favourite Jungle covers. My only complaint is the cover doesn't relate to the story inside (as far as I remember)!
  6. Thanks to cheetah for this one. Taken nearly two decades to find one and it's a very pretty copy.
  7. A pleasure. Care to share the photos? What's the back story there on the family? - sounds very interesting! Fully appreciate you might feel that is too personal.
  8. I'm hopeful Steven will post more as well - maybe some close up details. As for the folk of Bonhooghly, I'm only scratching the surface - some far more compelling photos still to come.
  9. I can imagine that scans don't bring out the handling. If you take an artist say, like Velasquez, or Monet, the depth of texture and brushstroke making are quite unlike the effect they render. Up close they are virtually abstract. I see a hint of that phenomenon in some of the scans of Steve's work but look forward one day to seeing them in reality. I imagine them to be far richer than scans can show and your eye witness account bears this out. And you know, while Steven's talent is vast, so too has his work ethic been extraordinary, from a very early age. Huge, huge admiration for that.
