  1. Actual days or business days? Actual = 88 Business = 62
  2. Modern Slow Track 88 days from Received to Graded. A new record long wait for me. Still hoping to get these books before Christmas.
  3. Modern Slow Tier - 85 days since receipt. Still SFG. That is a new record for me.
  4. Watched Ep.1. Not my cup of tea. It is sad that Marvel will not be remaining a family-friendly (i.e. kid-friendly) brand. Another brick in the wall.
  5. I am seeing minor improvements in the Modern Slow Teir pace. A 2 day improvement from my last batch.
  6. I am pleased to report that since July, the rate at which Modern Slow Tier books are verified has improved by one day. This at the very least means the turnaround time no longer appears to be getting longer.
  7. Well I finally got around to submitting my 4 book membership coupon. From Invoiced to Graded in 16 business days. Wow! I envy those of you who can afford the higher tiers. Back to modern slow tier for me.
  8. I know that Charlton's production values are notoriously low, but check out this cover of Ghostly Haunts 48: That barcode is just plain lazy!
  9. I love image. I hate Shadowhawk. To me Shadowhawk represents the worst of every high-concept (He rips out their spine!), low-quality, gimmick ridden cliche that derailed the comic book industry in the 90s.I got this back from CGC yesterday.I picked this book off the shelf the day it was released because I thought it was novel. Today I cherish the metaphor. When you strip away the die-cut foil, and remove the embossing from the cover. Shadowhawk was nothing more than the big smudge of ink you see here.My first Manufacturing Error, and my first Qualified label. If you like MEs then I hope you enjoy this one.If you hate Shadowhawk, then I hope you enjoy it even more!Clearly this cover missed a pass through the die-cut foil machine, and I guess the same machine probably does the embossing as well. My only disappointment is that while the label states MANUFACTURED WITHOUT SILVER FOIL ON COVER, I wish it would have also noted the missing embossing. The effect is pretty dramatic for multiple reasons:1. Of course Shadowhawks chromey helmet is now a flat white.2. The mysterious WHO IS words are missing due to the absence of the embossing.3. The artist signatures were also embossed and are therefore missing.4. And the overprinting of the black obfuscates the Image logo and price, etc...Not to be confused with the newsstand variant which was printed in flat grays. This is pretty cool for a hardcore Image collector like me, and a 9.8 to boot. Its a keeper. To see old comments for this Journal entry, click here. New comments can be added below.

  12. MST 10 books Invoiced 4/27 Delivered 8/19 115 days.
  13. Day #113. 10 books Shipped/Safe. Nine 9.8s. One 9.6. A couple books in this batch dodged a bullet. Now, come home to poppa!
  14. Captain's log. Calendar day #110. It's been 80 weekdays since my books were invoiced and they still have not shipped. Oddly enough this order sat in "Graded" status for 34 days before entering "Quality Control". My next order was Graded only 10 days before hitting QA today. Maybe this means they are getting caught up.
  15. I'm totally excited to learn that several of these are the final issues in their respective series (i.e. low print run).
  16. I bought a collection with some awesome high-grade 80s Charlton and lots of duplicates. I'm in cheesy Charlton heaven! This GM77 cover is actually pretty amazing.
  17. A sign of life! Today (day #107) my MST books moved to Quality Control.
  18. MST invoice date 4/27 103 days since invoice date 75 weekdays since invoice date Still not shipped.
  19. $1 You're on. You are going to need a lot of popcorn.
  20. MST marked "Graded" more than 4 weeks ago. Still not shipped.
  21. Moder Slow Tier Weekday #73 since "Invoiced". Still not shipped.
  22. Does anyone know the first Hitler cover in comics?
  23. My MST 4/27 books are still in GRADED. You jumped the queue! seriously, My MST 4/23 books still aren't shipped safe. Maybe you guys should call CGC tomorrow and find out what's going on. I'm half-way tempted to do so myself. I emailed today they said within a week should be good You would think that processing would be done in a First In First Out fashion, based on service tier. Apparently not. The turnaround time in general kinda sucks some of the joy out of slabbing books.
