  1. Daniel is tight on moderns. Have it pressed and sent to CGC. Bet you still get a 9.8 That was my thinking at the time. We shall see. Even if it comes back a 9.6, it's still an upgrade for me of a hard to find book. Okay, probation reduced to 2 weeks. (thumbs u BTW, the book arrived today safe and sound. Thanks again.
  2. In other news, I am placing myself on 3 weeks comic buying probation. I am so ashamed.... But it made sense at the time...
  3. All that in one book? Yeah, the lack of pictures was a tad concerning but no red flags in the seller's feedback. It's a bit of flier but at that price, I figured what the hell. I'm setting my expectations pretty low though.
  4. Grabbed this last night. Will probably be another source of ebay frustration, but I'm sucker so we shall see. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Dave-Stevens-Super-Art-Set-MINT-Rocketeer-/150867595592?pt=US_Comic_Books&hash=item232068d148#ht_500wt_1287
  5. Super seller. Pleasant to deal with, superb communication, and product is packed safely and shipped quickly. I highly recommend. (thumbs u
  6. Probably waited to see how the sales went at Comic-Con. You know, you are probably right. That's kinda sneaky. Or to increase sales at Comic-Con as all of us fanboys would panic at the thought of waiting until January 2013 and buy up the special Comic-Con Edition.
  7. Don't know if anyone else noticed, but Amazon moved the release date forward to August 2012. That pre-order of mine isn't looking so depressing anymore.
  8. January 2013!?!? And the wife just pre-ordered it for me as a belated Father's Day gift. Well, it should arrive in time for next Father's Day.
  9. Really would've been good to know. I just got the books today and as soon as I grabbed the envelope, I knew I was in trouble. I really do have to stop purchasing off of ebay. Nothing good comes from it. I'd just steer clear of raws unless you know the seller. Slabs are a different story. True. I spoke to generally. Definitely have had good experiences purchasing slabs. But raw books.... no bueno.
  10. Really would've been good to know. I just got the books today and as soon as I grabbed the envelope, I knew I was in trouble. I really do have to stop purchasing off of ebay. Nothing good comes from it.
  11. Wow! Condition Average: VF (Very Fine) Most better, a couple books may be Fine+ only from minor creases in spine. The up-in-the-air grading range may be the only warning what is tucked under the pile. True, but you never know... This lot ended at $108.05. Did anybody here pick this up? I didn't pick up the above referenced lot, but I did win a smaller lot of Dave Stevens books from the same seller. I feel sorry for the buyer of the larger lot. My 7 books came unboarded, unbagged, shipped in a flat rate envelope with no cardboard or any type of protection. Why, oh why, do I keep buying books on ebay.
  12. Thanks! I've looked at that cover several times thinking that it had to be it, but the artwork was clearly not Dave Stevens. I had never seen the back cover though. I totally agree with your sentiments by the way. It does seem rather weak.
  13. Okay, so here's a question that is bugging me. I'm looking through the Dave Stevens Covers registry set and I see two books that I'm not familiar with: Ark 31 (finally found this one at the official Dave Stevens website. ) and Shadow 3 (Dark Horse). After spending several minutes searching, googling, etc., etc., I still have know nothing about these books. I can't find any information on them. Has anyone seen these issues? Does anyone know what they even look like or where I could find more information about them? Just curious. This is what happens when too much caffeine meets boredom.
  14. My daily perusal of this thread is threatening to disrupt the delicate balance between my Steranko obsession and my Dave Stevens obsession. If I sold my Steranko books I could buy more Dave Stevens stuff....
  15. Since we're on the subject of submissions, I just sent off my very first submission. It had a couple of Silver Age books but was overwhelmingly Dave Stevens: World of Wood 1 Bettie Page Queen of the Nile 1 Bettie Page Queen of the Nile 2 Bettie Page Queen of the Nile 3 Cheval Noir 1 2xJonny Quest 5 2xAirboy 5 Starslayer 2 Rocketeer Adventures 1 Planet Comics 1 I'm feeling pretty good about most of them, but I'd imagine most do on their first submission. I really hope the Bettie Page books and the Cheval Noir come back at what I *think* they could be. It would fill a nice hole in my collection. Is the current turnaround of 45 days for Modern Tier books accurate or is it even longer now?
  16. That was Glenn's/Peasofcrap's. Who does not match his username at all. He just will hold out on a book price until he gets it. I don't blame him with what he digs up. I didn't mean to sound bitter or anything in anyway. I was glad to get it. Now if I could just find a DNAgents 24 in 9.8.....
  17. speaking from someone that just sold a 9.8, i would actually say that is a bargain price! Compared to two recent Ebay sales as opposed to what these have sold for on the forum, I would say so. I wish this had been listed one week sooner. I saw one pop up on ebay last week for auction and worked a deal to buy it directly. I probably over paid but I had been looking for months so jumped on it to the tune of $225 shipped and insured. Oh well. I guess patience is a virtue and a money saver. Still glad to finally have it.
  18. Great buyer. Super easy to deal with. No hassle, no fuss, no muss. Couldn't ask for a better transaction.
  19. Picked up a CGC X-Men. It was shipped promptly and safely. Great communication. Would definitely recommend.
  20. For the record, I normally never tape the comic bags to the board. However, that night whether due to fatigue, a precocious two year old, or just lack of attention, I did. I should of corrected it, but I didn't notice until they were actually completely taped up and ready to go. My apologies and thanks for not holding it against. It's a pet peeve of mine when I get books that way, and as I said, I normally never do it to books I ship. Sorry you had to be the victim of my carelessness.
  21. Recently completed a purchase, and it was perfect. Safely packaged, shipped lightning fast. Absolutely fantastic seller. Highly recommend.
  22. My most recent purchase from Mark was just like all my previous ones: well graded books at good prices that shipped securely and quickly. Always a pleasure, Mark.
  23. Purchased several raw books and they were delivered quickly, well packaged and accurately graded. Great transaction and would not hesitate to recommend.
