  2. I can't claim to have read near the number of comics some of you more 'seasoned' veterans can, but the first book that comes to mind is Spectacular Spider-Man #14

The art is unique. Every panel is hand painted. No inks, pencils, etc, all painted. The story was also something really different from what I had read before. A young man with cerebral palsy (i think) is confined to his wheelchair, with little to no control over his motor functions, and without the ability to speak. He basically sits in his room all day, but each evening his family rolls him out to the roof of their apartment building, so he can spend some time outside, watching the Brooklyn skyline. One evening Spider-Man and Morbius happen to be battling it out, and the fight arrives on this particular rooftop. All the guy can do is sit there and watch as these two duke it out. Spidey eventually wins and returns to the rooftop and sits with the guy, chatting it up for a bit (although the conversation is decidedly one-sided). Spidey then decides to let him in on a secret and reveal his identity by pulling off his mask and telling him his real name, mentioning how the two of them aren't that different. At the end his father (or older brother) comes out to get him and asks if he saw anything exciting, to which the guy lets out the best excited grunt he can under the circumstances.

Definitely not something I expected from a comic book and one of the few that will probably stay with me.

very good choice...another Paul Jenkins classic (i think it was him who wrote)!!!

  3. My latest pickup just arrived today - the cover of the second Ex-Machina TPB, Tag.

This is, IMHO, one of the best EM pieces to date. I love the layout, it's huge and it's more focused on Mayor Hundred than his slightly goofy looking alter-ego (no offense, Great Machine).

great pick up, congrats and enjoy it!!! 893applaud-thumb.gifthumbsup2.gif

  5. sorry gang, but Galactus is stronger than Hulk and even Thanos is stronger than Hulkie...

i think Hulk can be the top shelf for "human" strenght, but it wouldn't be a match fighting the big G and the nasty T

    regards

There IS no top level for Hulk since his strength is tied to his anger/rage. The madder he gets the stronger he gets so there's no way to say where his power level stops. Now, I'd agree with you that Big G would stop Hulk on any given Sunday in a regular book, but throw them into a MAX book and have Big G cut off Betty's head in front of Hulk and I bet Hulk could take him. Also, there was an issue of Fantastic Four where the Invisible Woman took out Galactus by herself by stabbing him with a really big invisible spear. I think it was her "Malice" persona or just after. As far as the FF are concerned Sue is the most powerful hands down. hail.gif

    if that happened...bad writing, 27_laughing.gif!

hulk could be as made as crazy, no way he could stand a chance against a pure force of universe...that's just even beyond our parameters of "sheer srenght"...big G and T are on another scale/level.

  6. Impact #1 with Krigstein's Master Race. There has never been a more cinematic telling of a story in my opinion. Every frame means something. The story is great, but it is the art that shoots this one out of the stratosphere. This was one of EC's last gasps, and i am not sure if Krigstein would have been allowed by the EC front office and editors to illustrate it they way he did if he wasn't given free rein to use the style he chose. It is an amazing story that everyone should have to read so that they never forget what horror's man is capable of.

I have edited this post and added a link that has the story in its entirety. Just click your mouse on the page and it will advance to the next page. Every time i look at it, i think i see something new.
