  1. Does anyone know what the print run of Kirkman's Invincible #1 was? First issue seems to be selling consistently in the $200+ range, and it's 100+ issues strong in to its run, but I never hear buzz about it as a spec book. The first arc seems like good material for a movie, especially now that Marvel has established the basics of the "Super-Hero genre" in the wider public consciousness.
  2. Some people seem to care: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Fugitoid-1-TMNT-1st-Print-CGC-9-6-WP-/381042832273?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item58b7ec3391
  3. If a million ebay users list a million items for a million dollars each, eventually someone will buy at least one random thing for a million dollars, right?? Teen Titans Go #51 SOLD BIN $119.99 http://www.ebay.com/itm/TEEN-TITANS-GO-51-First-Series-/301577461756

  5. I'm queer - And I was born that way - but I was 28 when I realized which kind of queer, and that there was a label for it, and there were other people like me. I wasn't repressing anything - I had just never heard of Asexuality. Our public understanding of what it means to be "Gay" has changed dramatically in the past 50 years. Lots of people in 1963 would and did not identify as "gay" because they A. weren't aware there was such a thing. or B. Their awareness of what it meant to be "gay" didn't resonate with what they were feeling, and/or C. If they accepted they were such a thing, they would be fired from their job, disowned by their family, arrested by the police, or ruined completely. I assure you that LOTS of 18 year olds who would come out today, would not/did not come out 50 years ago. And now: back to which Moderns are Heating up on eBay* *fun inside joke for long time thread readers, since only like 5% of the posts in here are ever on topic.

  9. We all run around in circles when something gets optioned to maybe someday be a movie. Whereas Disney's Big Hero 6 actually came out this weekend, got good reviews, and looks to be #1 at the box office. BH6 books are indeed selling at nice prices for a mid 90s marvel book, but I'm surprised we haven't had any talk about them here, or seen a spike in prices now that the movie has landed. Any thoughts?
  10. No, that's missing a digit. Print run was 22K http://www.bleedingcool.com/2013/10/17/letter-44-1-sells-out-22000-print-run/
  11. Even the shilled account!!! Am I reading it right that the winner of the auction has 100% bid activity with the seller and has 569 feedback? If that is true, they are not even trying to hide that this is a shill account. Okay, I'm probably wrong here. It looks like the 100% bid activity only covers the last 30 days. It's probable this buyer has activity with other sellers older than 30 days. Also, it's not very good shilling if the "shill" account wins. The trick is to make the other guy win. Let's face it - not every stupid sale is a conspiracy; some bidders are just stupid. And when 2 stupid bidders want the same item...
  12. Can someone explain to me why a copy would ever sell for $50? I thought Loot Crate's share of the RR print run was 100,000+ copies? http://www.comicbookresources.com/?page=article&id=53380 I assume there's something I'm missing, since that would make it one of the most common comic books published in the last 20 years.
  13. No special heat right now. Man Who Laughs has been a $25-$50 book for years now. The time to sell was a few years ago, before the hardcover reprint came out.
  14. It has been a fabulous spec if you were in from ground floor. I said we'd see about Figment going forward. That was about a month ago. Larry has been right so far. There has been a several week window to sell this book above cover. It may not stay this way, but, as of now, Larry's game plan to sell this book into the window of opportunity has been a winner. Bought a Figment #2 off the stands this weekend and sold it less than 24 hours later for $16.50 - Larry nailed this one, and he's right that video game/tv/other books with non comic-book fan-bases tend to sell well for years as sets. I sold a VF set of Chuck 1-6 for $50 once, and Injustice Vol 1 is still selling well a year later. If I knew how to get my hands on sets of Figment 1-4 first printings at cover price, I'd pull the trigger! I doubt Figment will ever drop below $25 per set; They'll probably average closer to $50 for years to come.
  15. I bought 15+ VF copies of The Strain (Vol 1) #3 out of a 25¢ bin on the sidewalk today. Guy working the counter inside told me he couldn't sell me some of the books I found because they had (ancient) price tags on them, therefore someone had made a mistake putting them in the 25¢ bin; took away my "$6" Glamourpuss's
  16. Some shops around me still have 1st prints on the stands for cover.
  17. So much of this is wrong. Preacher #1 has been more than $10 since about 2 weeks after it came out. There is absolutely no chance it had a "healthy six figure print run" Last year you could have gone to a big show and been lucky to buy 5 copies at $40+ each.
  18. The episodes were 5 minutes each. Maybe they are great, but the entire run of all Danger Mouse episodes ever made has a shorter runtime than a single season of a 1 hour drama. My point is, even if a new season of a BBC cartoon from 30 years ago resulted in new interest in Danger Mouse, why would that interest translate into interest in Danger Mouse's 24th and final comic book appearance, in the back of a book in which he doesn't appear on the cover, which has a higher print run than any of the earlier books actually starring him? Maybe you could make a case that his UK Annuals will see a spike. Or Danger Mouse lunch boxes. But the only chance Darkwing Duck #3 has of spiking, is if this board tricks people into buying it.
  19. This seems unlikely to me. Count Duckula 3 is the 1st American comic book appearance of a cartoon character that appears in two dozen much earlier comics in the UK, and then never appears in comic books in either country again. Is someone really going to watch a 2015 BBC cartoon based on a 1981 BBC cartoon and think "Boy, I wish I had the 1991 american comic book with a backup story about this!"?
  20. But why? http://www.ebay.com/itm/War-Man-1993-1-MINTY-/281311738702
  21. Can we go more in depth on some of these? X-Factor 15 - First Horsemen of Apocalypse Teen Titans 21 - Brother Blood?!? ASM V2 30 - First Ezekiel or Morlun (I must have missed the news on this) Hulk 134 - First Golem? 228 - No clue at all Sorry I had a typo it was Hulk 234. But you have the rest right so far. Cut to two weeks from now: 1st Moonstone selling for $50+ on eBay.
  22. If Superman Adventures #4 starts selling for any kind of premium, then we have proved once and for all that these boards really do move the market.
  23. Preacher #12 NM-, ASKING PRICE: $137 http://www.mycomicshop.com/search?ItemID=25727798 And then right here, one of those emoticons that's freaking out
  24. I found this signed comic in a stack of random issues at a fancy bookstore today, but alas, they basically wanted $20 per comic even when they weren't inscribed
  25. I bought Peter Panzerfaust #1 out of a $1 bin, but that was in Nov 2012.
