  1. Hama did write the #21.5 issue that was included in the second Snake Eyes/Storm Shadow comic pack of the 25th Anniversary figure line. There is also a silent story by Hama in G.I. Joe Yearbook #3 from the original series--Storm Shadow, Scarlett and Timber attempt to rescue Snake Eyes from Cobra after he's been run through the brain wave scanner.
  2. The new DH Star Wars series has me back in the comic shop. While picking up a copy of #2 today I found 2 copies of Revival #1 in really nice, NM/better shape still on the shelf. Thanks to my frequenting these boards I knew enough to pick them up. Got them for $2.50 each. Read one when I got home (after I read Star Wars) and thought it was quite good though not my normal fare. They also had several copies of #2 and onward so I may need to pick up a few copies of those as well. I guess I now have an interest in seeing where this book goes . . .
  3. Thanks guys! Here's a bit more . . . I couldn't meet Larry Hama without getting some sketches . . . (sorry for the glare). First up, from 2010, Snake Eyes: And then, from last year, Storm Shadow in his Joe garb: I also have a quite a few raw books signed by Larry--#1, #26, Yearbook #3 and so on--nothing that hasn't been seen before. Then there's this, which I'm thinking may be a bit more unique: Also had a great little chat with him about it as he flipped through it--it's the same edition (albeit his is older, he commented) that he used/uses. I thought it was very cool of him to sign it. It's been said before, but it's always worth getting something signed by Larry and hearing one his stories.
  4. Ok, one more--Snake Eyes Issue 16, page 18 inks, just got this up on the wall today:
  5. Now for some art . . . I started collecting art about 2 years ago with the focus of course being G.I. Joe. I'm a big fan of Robert Atkins so I started with some Clayton Brown inks of his stuff from early in the IDW run: Long story short, I learned more, made some contacts, got lucky, and now I have this wall: Something from ARAH by S.L. Gallant--got this from him in Richmond last year--my first cover: And my most recent scores--pencilled page and inked page, first IDW Dreadnoks: And that's all . . . For now . . .
  6. It's about time I contributed to this thread and now that I've finally taken the time to mess with photobucket, here we go. First my slabs--#21: Got this raw and got it signed back in 2010. Corners are razor sharp but it has a bindery tear. I was actually happy with the grade as the main point was to have a signed #21 and it was right in line with what I paid for it raw. #155: Found this box diving at my lcs about 7 years ago and paid $20 for it. When I got the chance to get it signed and graded I jumped on it. I was really happy with how it came back. At the time, Silent had the only 9.8 and this was the only 9.6 signed by Hama. Not sure if that's the case anymore . . .
  7. It's a small shop that been open for just over 2 years and it's the only one in about a 30 mile radius. They make most of their money off of subscribers and moderns, though here lately they've started cultivating their back issue selection, mostly copper on up for $1.00 or more recent stuff still at cover but some silver and bronze as well. I was really surprised to find this there though, that's for sure. They may very well have not realized what they had (like I said, I just recognized the cover because I've seen it numerous times on various threads here. I didn't know it's value or significance until I got it home). Hopefully I'll be posting more cool finds here in the weeks to come . . .
  8. I got this today at my LCS for $1.00. It's a bit outside my normal collecting focus and expertise, but I think I did okay. Seriously, it was due to all the time I spend on these boards that I even recognized this cover. I didn't realize it was #1 until I got it home and looked inside. I really appreciate everything I've learned here and it's fun to be able to post something like this.
  9. I've heard mixed reviews, though it sounds like it's gotten better as it's continued. I know Larry Hama wasn't happy with the original artist assigned to the book, but really likes working with Gallant. I read the FCBD issue and 156, and I've picked up one or two more along the way. I've been thinking about jumping on at the next good point, as well as going back and picking up the trades. The original series was my favorite back in the day and I really am interested in seeing what's being done with it now. I HAVE been reading the other IDW books, and the Cobra Command storyline as been really, really good--edge of my seat good. I'm really looking forward to seeing how this plays out.
  10. Awesome! I too am a high school history teacher and I use every chance I get to bring comics into my lessons. I especially love that you've got a G.I. Joe poster up there and I love the Boba Fett too! I've got an ESB poster in my classroom along with a piece of foamcore with xeroxed copies of various war comic covers. My kids get a kick out that stuff. Not too many are comic readers, but they go see the movies. One of these days I'm going to teach an elective class on the history of comics.
  11. Silent, Great Storm Shadow sketch! I love how you can see the tattoo on his arm! I'm planning to attend the VA ComicCon this Saturday and I'm hoping to get a Storm Shadow from Larry as well. I got a Snake Eyes from him last year--talk about a grail sketch!
  12. Silent Master, I was guessing you got those signed at the VA ComicCon. I was at that con (my first "big" con). It was a great one for Joe fans--Larry Hama, Michael Golden, Tim Seeley, and Robert Atkins all in attendance. I got a bunch of raw stuff signed by all the above, and submitted my very first books for grading--my ARAH #21 and my #155 for Hama's signature. I got them back two weeks ago and I still can't stop staring at them. The #21 came back 9.2, but it's a really, really nice 9.2 and I love it . My #155 came back 9.6 which makes it one of two SS 9.6's and the only one signed by Hama, which, let's face it, is what you want if you're a Joe fan (the other is signed by Stan Lee and was recently, and still may be, on eBay). The only one better is yours--that's what makes you the Master One of these days I'll get around to posting pics of them . . . And great books everyone--I love visting this thread!
  13. Silent Master, Sweet, sweet books! Where were these signed? (I mean which convention--obviously they're signed on the covers)
