  1. Would that be Pokémon: the Electric Talent of Pikachu? I think Viz comics put out those Nintendo/Pokémon comics back in the 90's. I can't think of anything previous so if someone knows I'm interested too. With the recent popularity of Pokemon Go could those books see increased demand? No idea myself...
  2. Super-villain month is definitely the hot thing right now, but I'm very skeptical about whether there will be any long term value. Within a few months I think these books will drop like rocks other than maybe Joker's daughter appearances, but in the meantime they have been great for the quick-flip.
  3. ...and Ryan Reynolds eyes look like they're too close together, giving him a perpetual "deer in the headlights" look. Not good for a superhero.
  4. I wish it was a $1 book, but it's really not even close. $20-$40 or more depending on condition. It's also Star Lord's 2nd appearance, so it's not necessarily dirt cheap.
  5. It makes perfect sense that ABC would be the outlet for anything that Marvel does for television such as this SHIELD series. Disney owns both Marvel and ABC so I wouldn't be surprised if more Marvel properties make it onto the small screen via ABC. It might also be a good time to look for some of those early Coulsen appearances...as he will be the main man in the series.
  6. This thread was interesting so I'm bringing it back. Battle Scars 1-6 (1st Agent Coulsen, Marcus Johnson & co-written by hot creator Cullen Bunn. Small print runs with #1 being 32k and the rest in the 15K range. Coulson will be the focus of the upcoming S.H.I.E.L.D TV show.) Captain America Vol. 5 #6 (1st Winter Soldier - this could be a huge one with him being the focus of Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier. The print run of 46K also isn't huge for a mainstream book. The Winter Soldier variant cover probably has higher value, not sure what the ratio is here.) Annihilation Conquest #6 (1st appearance of the new Guardians of the Galaxy team who will be the stars of the GOTG movie. Print run 30K.)
  7. Comic book illuminati? Gotta be a new level of geekdom... It is so easy to use Ebay filters to see whats hot...or Whet's site, which is awesome.
  8. I thought the Watchmen movie was great too, it's problem was that the general public didn't "get it."
  9. My opinion is that your a little late for buying Captain Marvel #25 to 33 as those books have already shot up in price. Marvel-Two-In-One Annual #2 is also going crazy. The Warlock books are JUST starting to go bananas but I think that's just because they are hard to find in HG and people recognize how awesome they are 40 some years later. Luckily I have 3 HG copies of 25 and 1 HG 33. There are still some good deals to be had though on the other issues in Starlin's run. Marvel Graphic Novel #1: The Death of Captain Marvel is another important book for anyone looking for Starlin's Thanos Saga. I am trying to get a Two-in-One Annual #2, but yeah, they are steep. These are great books that I first discovered over twenty years ago when I began collecting comics. They were very monetarily undervalued, but that has changed.
  10. Any opinions concerning the early Thanos appearances in Captain Marvel and Warlock? Prices and activity seem to be rising slowly on Ebay. I'm thinking prices will increase dramatically as AV2 nears. These also seem pretty hard to find in conditions above Fine.
  11. I'm really enjoying this series BUT....I'm not at all a fan of all of all of these seemingly countless variant covers. The artificial scarcity of these manufactured collectibles is laughable to me. People shouldn't be paying $200+ for a book that came out a couple of months ago that is a "manufactured collectible," it's crazy. The value will eventually evaporate. The cover is different, big whoop. Why don't they make variant interiors? Answer - That might actually take a little work. I am aware that they are incentives for dealers to order more copies or just plain manufactured to be in limited supply, but the prices being paid for them is borderline crazy and not healthy for the hobby. People are becoming more interested in the collectible than in a comic book and thats not good. I am all for regular books that increase in value due to quality or media attention but its getting crazy when there are what seems like 20 different covers. There will be a time when the *spoon* hits the fan.
  12. Picked up a 6th Gun 2 and 14-27 for half cover price. Are the more recent issues getting any love?
  13. I never thought these books would be worth anything, but I liked the story so I have them all. I also picked up a copy of the #1 variant at half price books in the 25 cent box. I guess u never know what may blow up.
  14. Nice! I saw this one coming and loaded up on Battlescars #'s 1 & 6.
  15. They were worthless for a long time. But as more and more WD collectors are surfacing and collecting everything they recently spiked. Yeah, I guess anything with WD in it is worth $$$ nowadays. I checked Comichron and they say it had a 2,090 print run, that's tiny....might have to get me 1 or 2 of these.
  16. There's a reprint of Walking dead #1 in a trade paperback called "Image First" from 2005. The book also reprints Girls #1 by the Luna brothers as well as Remender's two books - Sea of Red #1 and Strange Girl #1. It seems like kind of an unknown Walking Dead oddity. Does anyone know if it has any real value?
  17. Yeah, the story isn't any better than the crappy art. Selling mine tomorrow while I can still get my money back...
  18. Finally had a chance to look at Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe, a pretty hot book on EBay now. My first thought..."this art sucks *spoon*"
  19. What did I miss? Is Epic Kill #2 special for some reason??
  20. Man, it's gonna be all-out war. Negan is definitely a bad-mofo who, like Rick, has made the most of the new world. He's smart too, but doesn't have the moral code that Rick has so he is out to make the Saviors into The New World Order, as he puts it. So I guess that means he wants to rule the new world by force. It seems like he is building an empire and needs the people he has beaten to be his workers and new soldiers, so he really doesn't want to kill people, but he must kill just enough and in a brutal enough fashion that others get the message and fall in line. Negan seems like the anti-Rick, even physically. I think Rick will play along for awhile, waiting for the best time to strike back. That would be the smart thing to do so they can get more info about the Saviors, like how many of them there are and what kinds of weapons they have, etc. The wrong thing to do would be to rush in there half-cocked and get destroyed because they weren't prepared. This might drag out for awhile...
  21. What do you guys think? Do you want to see Rick or Carl die? I don't mind Carl in the comic. I want him dead and gone forever from the TV show. Haha! Me Too! Carl in the comic is a nice kid who has been hardened by his circumstances. The AMC version of Carl has been incredibly poorly done, what kid is stupid enough to mess with a zombie stuck in the mud???...which then directly caused Dale's death - DIE CARL!!!...
  22. Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. SDCC might have something to do with it, but I think most of this is from AMC. They've been playing all of the Walking Dead reruns and Talking Dead has been plugging the comics all weekend, stirring up a frenzy.
  23. Carl got immediate medical attention from a surgeon. Lori and Judith lay bleeding on the ground in a yard full of zombies for goodness knows how long. Another "Rick's family member suffers a serious injury followed by amnesia" would be lame. There's also no obvious reason why Lori would head for DC. Like I say, I'll be pretty disappointed if this theory ends up being true. For me, it would destroy a lot of the emotional resonance of that cycle of issues as well. I definitely see where you're coming from, but that doctor wasn't a brain surgeon and that's obviously what Carl needed. That gunshot looked waaaaay more lethal than the one that hit Lori and Judith.
  24. Yeah, I thought it was far fetched until Carl got shot (again) and lived (again). Not quite so far fetched after thinking about those. Both of those shootings and Rick getting shot in the gut should have been fatal, but weren't. With those in mind I think Lori could still be alive, the 100 cover notwithstanding. Of course Lori had to be on it or the story would have been outted....yeah I'm a nut...haha!
