  1. I will continue to resurrect this thread every once in a great while when I get something worth sharing.

I know I've shared this one before but I finally got the 5th and final signature for it and kept the grade despite being cracked 4 times!

Also very happy with these two:

I still don't know if this one belongs in this set but I do like the different cover art:

  2.

You got a AOS #499 3rd in one of those...? hm Are you sure? Yes, there's the AOS #498 3rds in there, but that has been the only later printing I've seen in them.

I've only seen the (much) later printings of AOS #499 3rd, Action #686 2nd, and MOS #20 2nd in the boxed sets, which I'm fairly sure came last (in 1995-ish), keeping in mind that the DCU variants weren't produced until 1994.

    doh! You're right, I meant 498.

    499 I have never actually seen a 3rd printing

  3. Ahhhh how we all search for these reprints...fun isn't it

I am still in need of a Action #686 2nd and Adv#499 3rd...both of which are impossible

MOS #17 2nd too but those are readily available if you want to pay big $$ for them.

I still need an AC 686 2nd Printing as well.

I was lucky enough to get a MoS 17 2nd Printing at a church garage sale. It came back a 9.4 but for $10 I'll happily take it.

I got a copy of AoS 499 3rd Printing in one of these prepackaged funeral for a friend sets on eBay for cheap but didn't bother grading it because it's not in great shape.

  4. Thanks for all of the info. I have been trying to hunt down the reprints. I'm still way off from being complete. A friend of mine and myself were having a discussion about whether or not Dynamic Forces signature editions should be included in a "complete" set of a particular storyline. Anybody have any feedback on that subject? Thanks again!

I would say in regards to this particular series, no, they should not be included . Unless I am missing something, the issues themselves are just standard first printings and everything that makes them special (signatures, packaging, etc) were added later by DF.

  5. I enjoy hunting for the various printings in this series. It adds a challenge to complete the whole thing. I haven't really looked for the various JLA #69 prints yet

Like you said there are probably like.... 7 people trying to actually collect these for themselves, but there are dozens more just buying them up to flip on for absurd markups. I like the challenge of finding a good quality copy for a realistic price. I have been willing to pay above market value for certain HTF issues in the past, but nowhere near what some people are trying to get for them on eBay, etc.

  6. I also saw where the MOS reprint is now listed in the set. I'm not sure I agree since it was not apart of the original run. Neat book still, who drew the cover?

I don't agree either. I am not sure who requested it be put on there. I would vote to take it off. I guess we could always ask for it to be removed.

    It was requested here:

    http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=7592106&fpart=6

There is also some debate going on about whether TBP should be included and if a new set just for 1st printings should be created.

As for the cover art, that is a good question. If I can find out I will post it here.

  7. Maybe no one has requested the 2nd print to be put on there. I have not got one that I thought was worth grading so I haven't gone one yet.

I did just get the grades from my coupon submission of the MOS reprint and it got a 9.8 :) I also got an AC 683 1st print 9.8 and 2nd Print 9.6.

Nice, so you and I have the two 9.8 copies of the reprint then :). Congrats on the AC683, that is one I have not had much luck with.

  8. I am not sure if it counts or not since it is a reprint, kind of like the Superman #75 millennium edition. Would it count?

I would lean towards no since they are just reprints that were released years later, but that wouldn't stop me from picking them up. Congrats on the 9.8.

Fair enough, to me it sort of seemed like the foreign editions. Cool to find but not part of the original run so I won't ask to have it included in the CGC set.

Looks like it's on there now anyway. I think it's weird that this one is included but the 2nd printing is not.

  9. I am not sure if it counts or not since it is a reprint, kind of like the Superman #75 millennium edition. Would it count?

  10. Those are cool books guys, but they are not print variants, which is what this thread is about.

meh, it was titled that way but this thread has been about more than just print # variants all along. There's an entire page dedicated just to the Platinum variant so I think all are welcome. That being said, I do have a print # variant waiting to get signed right now:

  11. Dave was super easy to deal with. I bought a Superman TBP off him, he sent me more pictures than I could have ever expected before the sale and everything went super smooth. Even for a book I wasn't worried about the grade on he shipped it super securely. No complaints whatsoever!
