While it is not a 'comic,' I thought like minded bronze horror fans might want to pick up a copy of this.

It's a book filled with history and popularity and covers of 70s and 80s horror books .

update. 10 pages in and I find out Jeff Jones was a woman. That was news to me.

Just ordered mine from Amazon. I remember all of those covers because I read them. Looking forward to it.

    Richard,

I will take this one based on two things I hope you will agree to.

    1) You will give it to the first customer in the store you're working at on Saturday. Explain to them the coolness of Bronze Teen Humor, Romance, Westerns and other lesser collected genres.

    2) Take the extra payment (already sent through PayPal) to buy your staff pizza and drinks tomorrow for lunch (or dinner). I'm not sure how many people you'll have in the store with you. If there is money left over, send a pie to another store or two.

It's not much, but hopefully it'll take your mind off things for a little while.

    Nicely done sir!

Star Spangled 128:    With the collapse of the superhero market, DC re-positioned Star Spangled to take advantage of the recent interest in pre-code horror.  They created a new character, Dr. 13, to investigate ghostly and unexplained events and put the art in the capable hands of Leornard Starr.  Prior to originating the syndicated strip Mary Worth, Starr honed his craft and delivered sophisticated illustration style comic art for different DC interior stories.  Dr. 13 Ghostbreaker was his first chance to take center stage and he delivered the covers and lead stories until the series ended at issue 130.  I don't know whether the art resonated with the typical young reader but there's much to admire and it's no surprise that he would be a successful artist for the more adult oriented fare of Mary Worth.

For those that like their comics with boys in tights superheroes, there's a Robin story with him facing off against a low-rent Two Face.

Census:  1 in 9.6 and 1 in 9.0.  Despite being a black cover it has minimal wear with the main defect a small scuff near the top of the spine.  Flat, tight with ow/w pages this VF/NM copy looks like a pedigree and is yours for $500.

  5. Not to be out done, this Kaluta cover from 1972 is as good as it gets in the BA Horror genre; this is one of those books, if its for sale, at cons, internet, here LCS lol yeah right, I just buy it, and loving the latest addition.

Great centering on this book. Very tough to find in high grade. Nice. (thumbs u

  6. Where the head shot is on upper left front - ink from another book probably.

Lower bind corner has a 1/8th of an inch tear with an impact mark.

    Back cover needs a cleaning.

Interior pages are Off White to White.

Trying to determine wether to sell it or get it pressed and keep it.

    Thanks for the input.

  7. Last year around this time, I closed out 2013 by completing my slabbed, hi-grade run of BWS Conans.

This year, I decided I wanted reader copies since I just couldn't get used to the awful coloring the reprinted trades have.

All these came in just before and after Christmas. Issue #11 and #8 are on their way (hopefully tomorrow) and I just need a mid-high grade #12 to replace my FR/VG copy so I can close out 2014 with my raw run of the BWS issues.

Just asking... What size Mylars are you using and is it Bill Cole or Gerber?
